About the Role:
As the Engineering Manager of Global Privacy, you will lead the technical strategy and be an important product strategy partner for three core charters:
- Deletion: Deliver products that provide customers and partners with secure, seamless experiences to address programmatic and on-demand deletion experiences. Ensure that retention schedules are followed. Provide assurance of notification, action, and confirmation.
- Data Access and Portability: Develop full-stack components and APIs that support customer's ability to exercise their privacy rights under applicable jurisdictional appropriate contexts.
- Consent: Maintain a system to honor privacy choices our customers express every day. Deliver assurance mechanisms to track compliance with international privacy regulations.
Customers and financial partners have high expectations for our products to be secure and compliant while still offering flexibility and excellent, seamless experiences. You will define our technical roadmap and execution of this strategy. You will partner with product and business leadership to explain the roadmap for these charters. You will hire and grow multiple engineers to build your vision. You will report to the Director of Global Privacy as part of the Security and Privacy organisation.
You Will:
- Provide technical leadership and lead complex, long-term, cross-team engineering efforts.
- Manage the quality of your team's quality and output
- Mentor or facilitate mentorship for junior engineers on your team
- Partner with product managers to understand requirements, lead engineers who translate them into a roadmap, and ensure the engineering team delivers the expected outcome.
- Set the technical vision for the integration platform team and partner with engineers of other teams to set a broader technical vision
- Drive the planning and execution, including quarterly objective definition, resource allocation, and re-prioritization when necessary
- You explain the options and tradeoffs between schedule, features, and quality across interdependent systems, and make sound technical decisions
- Deploy your expertise in technical writing, distributed systems architecture, coding, and software development processes to achieve amazing things for the team.
- Be a role model in upholding Remitly's cultural values and use them as a framework to mentor other engineers across the company to achieve their full potential.
- Help set and hire against a high engineering talent bar for the team.
- Advocate for the engineering team on a company-wide audience.
- Manage the system of work of one product team with a DevOps mindset.
You Have:
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of total experience building software
- 3+ years of recent experience hiring and managing technical teams, including performance management.
- Experience recruiting engineers including strategy, sourcing, structuring interview loops, interviewing, and closing candidates
- Experience developing reliable and scalable apps or services on a public cloud platform (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Experience as an engineer building customer-facing products
- Experience with version control systems like GitHub / GitLab and developing Git branching approaches
- Experience with a relational database such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle
Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is $148,000-$185,000. In Canada, Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
