Job Description:
At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward. We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.About the Role:
We are hiring an Engineering Manager to join the Remitly Business (BizPay) vertical based in our Greater Vancouver office (Metrotown). BizPay is a high-growth area for Remitly, targeting the $20T B2B cross-border payments market. We operate with the speed of a startup but within the infrastructure of a public company.
In this role, you will own the core "Send" engine for our business customers. Your job is to drive the product forward, scaling it from early traction to a global platform. We aren't just building utility; we are building a beautiful, slick product that businesses actually enjoy using. You will lead report to the Senior Engineering Manager and lead a fully local, co-located team. We work on a hybrid environment (3 days in the office).
We are looking for an entrepreneurial operator. You need to be comfortable moving fast and dealing with ambiguity, but you also need the experience to navigate a large organization. You'll be managing the friction between "moving fast" and "integrating with complex corporate systems" daily.
You Will:
- Drive the Agenda: You aren't just here to execute a backlog. You will partner with Product and UX Design to shape the strategy for the "Send" domain. You act as the technical owner, ensuring we build an experience that feels seamless and high-quality.
- Manage a Local Team: Manage a squad of engineers who are all physically located in the Vancouver office. You will handle hiring, performance management, and career growth for your reports.
- Collaborate on Experience: Work closely with Design, Marketing, Compliance, and Product. You will balance the strict requirements of financial compliance with the need for a slick, low-friction user interface.
- Get Things Done: Navigate the "corporate mechanics" of a large company. You will need to influence and coordinate with teams across Identity, Risk, and Core Ledger to unblock your squad and ship features.
- Scale the Tech: Move our systems from "0-to-1" prototypes to "1-to-N" scale. You will help the team make trade-offs between shipping immediately and building for long-term reliability.
- Execute Key Initiatives: Lead the delivery of complex roadmap items (focusing on Q2 and beyond). Examples include:
- BizPay Wallet: Enabling stored-value accounts for business senders.
- Automated Onboarding: Reducing manual operations by integrating automated document decisioning.
- B2B Workflows: Building recipient-driven data entry flows to handle complex B2B use cases without adding friction for the sender.
You Have:
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience directly managing software engineering teams.
- Experience at high-velocity product companies where Engineering Managers drive business outcomes.
- Design Sensibility: You appreciate high-quality UX and know how to work with designers to implement pixel-perfect, intuitive interfaces. You don't treat design as an afterthought.
- Entrepreneurial Drive: You have a track record of cutting through red tape to ship products. You don't wait for a process to be handed to you; you build it.
- Technical Depth: Previous background as a hands-on software engineer (Backend/Frontend/Full Stack). You can dive into architecture discussions and earn the respect of senior engineers.
- Stakeholder Fluency: You know how to talk to non-engineers and get them aligned to move projects forward.
- Experience taking existing products and scaling them (refactoring, optimization, and reliability).
