Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms of every size to work smarter, faster, and more securely.

We are transforming the legal experience for all by bettering the lives of legal professionals while increasing access to justice.

Summary:

We are currently seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our rapidly growing Engineering team. This role is for someone who has built and shipped real Windows desktop software and wants to apply that expertise to a product that makes a meaningful difference for legal professionals. This role is available to candidates across Canada, excluding Quebec. If you are local to one of our hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto) you will be expected to be in office minimum twice per week on one of our Anchor Days.

What your team does:

We at Clio have an amazing team on a mission to transform the legal experience for all, and our engineering team's goal is to deliver an incredible experience to our customers. To enable that experience, our development team strives to optimize for performance, reliability, scalability, and a beautiful and intuitive interface.

Clio Desktop App is a key piece of our product suite. From offline document management to passive time tracking, this app ensures we meet our customers where they are in their day-to-day workflows — and you'll be the expert who owns and evolves it on Windows.

A day in the life might look like:
  • Own and ship production-quality Windows desktop features with a focus on reliability, performance, and a polished user experience

  • Work with a team of developers to solve complex platform-level problems and deliver elegant solutions to Clio customers

  • Collaborate in an agile environment with full stack developers across a variety of projects

  • Participate in diverse projects and work across engineering teams in Canada, the United States, and Ireland

  • Review and provide feedback on code — both within your team and across Clio

  • Work closely with teams across Clio to diagnose and solve problems that span native desktop and cloud-connected services

  • Mentor teammates and learn from those around you, giving and receiving constructive feedback to grow together

What you must have:
  • Proficiency in C# and/or C++ — you write it daily and know it deeply

  • A proven track record of shipping production Windows desktop applications to real users

  • Hands-on experience with Win32, WPF, WinUI, or similar Windows frameworks — you understand the platform, not just the language

  • Experience integrating desktop applications with web services and cloud backends

What will set you apart:
  • Experience working within an Agile process on large-scale SaaS products

  • A history of mentoring other developers and raising the bar on a team

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to build high-trust relationships across teams and with customers

  • A keen interest in improving your craft, including leveraging AI in your development workflow

Don’t have all of those?

The most important part of this job is that you approach new challenges with curiosity and a drive to apply what you learn to fixing root causes, not just symptoms. Deep curiosity and a desire to learn will help you succeed in this job, combined with a drive to help others by shipping code. We have cross-trained developers coming from Java, Python, C++, and JavaScript backgrounds, and are happy to help you learn Ruby when you get here.

This posting is for an existing vacancy.
