Job Summary:

FLIR Integrated Imaging Solutions (IIS), a division of Teledyne, headquartered in the Greater Vancouver area, BC, addresses mainly 2 growing markets: Machine vision for the largest part of our activities, and People Analytics.

 

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager dedicated to our visible wavelength machine vision camera and software products used in industrial inspection, intelligent traffic systems, scientific instruments and much more. The Product Manager has a business-orientation and is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic plan for a product family or market. They maintain close relationships with the market (customers, evaluators, and potentials) for awareness of market needs. This includes identification of appropriate markets and development of effective marketing strategies and tactics for reaching them. This person is involved through all stages of a product family’s lifecycle.

 
Detailed Description:

  • Deep dive into targeted market segments with the objective of identifying differentiation opportunities and translating these into market requirements documents (MRD)
  • Review incoming product requests, identify market problems or user stories, work with engineering to complete internal feasibility
  • Develop and maintain a business proposal that makes a compelling case for continued investment into your products
  • Create product requirements documentation (PRD) identifying market problems, applications, feature requirements, and positioning
  • Evaluate competitor feature sets and user experience, understand Teledyne FLIR’s product benefits and opportunities for improvement
  • Drive buy-build-partner analysis, and where necessary, review potential partner relationships for the product
  • Track, analyze and model/forecast sales performance of existing products to how know we are winning and losing in the market, and drive changes to our product and processes to create improvement

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; alternatively, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Commerce combined with a Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Product Management managing B2B technical products
  • Travel worldwide on a regular basis (6+ times per year post COVID)
  • Strong process-driven mindset geared toward ensuring fast, efficient delivery of world class products and a world-class out-of-the-box user experience
  • Exceptional technical skills, and the ability to translate customer needs to easily understood engineering requirements
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening skills, and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences
  • Experience in diplomacy, specifically areas such as negotiations, conflict resolution, and mediation
  • Ability to deliver accurate, informative, and engaging presentations to a variety of internal and external groups, in a range of environments

 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Understanding of/experience in machine vision industry: industrial cameras, sensors, interfaces, hardware APIs, related peripherals and technologies
  • Knowledge of machine vision application areas (semiconductors, electronics, logistics, medical) and associated camera requirements
  • Knowledge of computer vision software as well as experience with digital platforms
  • Pragmatic Marketing Certification

  

Salary Range:

$80,100.00-$106,800.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
