veritree and Job Overview

veritree is an award-winning climate tech start-up based in Vancouver. Launched in 2021, our technology measures and verifies the impact of global restoration efforts from the ground up. We are on a mission to plant 1 billion verified trees by 2030, collaborating with businesses, planting organizations, and consumers who believe in the transformative power of verified restoration projects to create real and meaningful impact for the planet, nature, and people.

veritree is seeking a Project Manager, Agroforestry, to own our portfolio of agroforestry partnerships end-to-end. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of smallholder field operations, restoration science, and data verification. You will manage day-to-day relationships with our agroforestry planting partners across West Africa, the Caribbean, South Asia, and South America — ensuring planting seasons run on schedule, evidence is collected and verified, and species and site data in our systems are accurate. You will own the SOPs that govern how agroforestry projects run, from germination assessments through survivability monitoring, and be the voice of these projects to the customers who fund them. As our agroforestry portfolio grows, this role is positioned to grow with it.

This role suits an agroforestry or forestry professional who is equally comfortable managing partner relationships across cultures, interrogating field data and photo evidence, and developing the processes that make results repeatable. We value candidates who are direct, transparent, and accountable.

6 Month Key Outcomes (6m KOs)
  • Own the end-to-end relationships with our agroforestry planting partners — running monthly business reviews, triaging field issues, and following through consistently so partners experience veritree as organized, transparent, and dependable.
  • Run a full planting season end-to-end: planting sessions created on schedule, germination assessments collected as evidence of seed sprouting, sessions verified on time, and stale verification backlogs analyzed and cleared.
  • Standardize the agroforestry SOPs (germination assessment, survivability monitoring, health score) and bring species and forest-type data across our systems to an accurate, consistent state.
What You'll DoAccount & Relationship Management
  • Run our agroforestry planting partner relationships end-to-end as the primary point of contact across current operations and planned expansion into new geographies.
  • Own and run all recurring partner meetings, including monthly business reviews: setting agendas, driving decisions, and owning follow-through.
  • Prepare relationship briefs and analyses that give leadership a clear, evidence-based picture of each partnership's health, history, and risks.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and transparently with partners operating across diverse cultural and operational contexts, and be accountable for every commitment made, internally or externally.
  • Provide regular planting and verification updates in customer-facing channels, so the companies funding these projects always know where things stand.
  • Triage issues that arise in the field and coordinate the right internal teams (product, science, data, finance) to resolve them.
  • Travel internationally to partner sites as needed to foster healthy business relationships, evaluate new opportunities, and audit planting sites.
Planting Seasons, Data & Verification
  • Plan and track each planting season against targets, ensuring planting sessions are scheduled on time and evidence requirements are met.
  • Coordinate germination assessments for direct-seeded planting so that seed sprouting is documented before trees are verified.
  • Review field and photo evidence and verify planting sessions in our system, applying our verification standards consistently.
  • Manage outstanding verification and monitoring backlogs with a prioritized, batched plan, and provide regular status updates on progress against targets.
  • Own the accuracy of species and forest-type data across our systems: species lists, common, scientific, and local naming, and the funding status of each species and crop.
SOPs & Process
  • Create, refine, and audit the SOPs that define our expectations for agroforestry projects: germination assessments, survival monitoring, and health scoring.
  • Write SOPs at a level general enough to adapt across geographies, species, and partner capacity, so they can be standardized across all agroforestry projects.

RequirementsQualifications

Professional Requirements or Qualifications

  • Demonstrated project management experience, including managing external partners and delivering on timelines.
  • Strong data literacy: comfortable interrogating field data, photo evidence, and species records.
  • Working knowledge of tree and crop species commonly used in agroforestry systems.
  • Ability to travel internationally (10-15% of time).
  • Experience building or standardizing monitoring SOPs across multiple projects or geographies.

Personal Strengths

  • Highly accountable and consistent: you do what you say you will do.
