The Role:
We are looking for a self-motivated, approachable, and business-savvy technology lawyer to join our in-house legal team and support Apryse's growing business. The ideal candidate learns quickly, thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional legal work in an efficient and pragmatic manner. The candidate will play an important role in Apryse's legal department and business, supporting our sales efforts, strategic initiatives, compliance team, integration of acquired companies and other day-to-day legal matters across our global group of companies. This role is remote-first, with a preference for candidates in the EST or CST time zones.
Responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate software license agreements, vendor agreements, reseller agreements, business associate agreements and other commercial contracts.
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice and pragmatically resolve issues that arise across the business.
  • Support compliance team with investigating and resolving suspected instances of misuse of our software.
  • Work with legal and business stakeholders to develop and support processes for contracting and other legal matters to improve efficiency, scalability and productivity.
  • Assist with drafting, updating and maintaining template license agreements and terms of service for new and existing products and company policies.
  • Work collaboratively and efficiently with external legal counsel where required.


Requirements:

  • Law degree from an accredited law school, licensed to practice law in the United States and a member in good standing with applicable bar association.
  • 5 to 7+ years of relevant legal experience, in a major law firm and/or in-house (ideally at a B2B software company).
  • Experience working with software licensing and technology-related transactions.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to understand the interplay of legal and business terms, and to advocate a strong position while maintaining a positive relationship with the other party.
  • Ability to grasp legal and business issues and provide tailored advice in plain language to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Creative problem-solver who can take a leadership role in transactions and resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and practical ways.
  • Proactive, service-oriented attitude, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative business relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • impeccable attention to detail, organized and able to self-motivate and work well independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

The compensation for this position is commensurate upon experience, with a range between $130,000.00-$160,000.00 USD in on target earnings.
