We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time IT Operations Specialist, Lvl 1 to join our IT Operations team in Langley, BC.  

Reporting to The Manager, IT Operations, the IT Operations Specialist Lvl 1 plays an important role in supporting the stability, availability, and performance of Pattison Food Group’s technology environment. This position monitors critical systems, responds to operational issues, supports production processes, and works closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure incidents are addressed quickly and effectively.

You will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring system and application alerts to help protect the integrity and availability of hardware, software, and business-critical systems.

  • Monitoring refrigeration alarms and escalating issues to the appropriate teams when required.

  • Monitoring production batch schedules and supporting the successful execution of scheduled jobs.

  • Investigating incidents and job failures using established procedures, while collaborating with technical teams and vendors to support timely resolution.

  • Performing scheduled maintenance, service requests, and approved system changes.

  • Escalating application, infrastructure, and operational issues to appropriate stakeholders, support teams, and management.

  • Building effective working relationships with internal teams, vendors, and business partners to support smooth day-to-day IT operations.

  • Providing evening IT Help Desk coverage between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., including troubleshooting a broad range of internal systems and technical issues.

  • Maintaining clear documentation and communicating updates on incidents, recurring issues, and operational activities.

You have:

  • A college diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience working within an IT environment.

  • Practical experience troubleshooting technical issues and applying structured problem-solving and incident-resolution practices.

  • Experience creating, maintaining, and interpreting technical documentation, procedures, and end-user instructions.

  • Knowledge of IT operations, infrastructure, systems monitoring, and service management practices.

  • Familiarity with tools and technologies such as Control-M, Nagios, VMware, Dell OpenManage, Intermapper, LDAP, Active Directory, Windows, UNIX, Cisco, ServiceNow, PowerShell, and ITIL practices.

  • Microsoft certifications such as Azure, Microsoft 365, MCSA, MCSE, or similar technical certifications are considered an asset.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment where priorities can change quickly.

  • Able to learn new systems, technologies, and processes with minimal direction.

  • Calm and dependable when responding to incidents, system issues, and time-sensitive requests.

  • Able to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • An effective communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation Details:

$67,618.00 - $84,522.00

The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience and other factors.
