We are seeking an enthusiastic Histology Manager to join our R&D team. Reporting to the VP of Translational Sciences, you will manage all histology aspects of our bioprinted therapeutic programs. This includes leading the histology function, managing priorities, planning and performing lab experiments, analyzing data, and presenting the results to a diverse audience. Your contributions will be critical in advancing healthcare, driving the development of bioprinted tissue therapeutics that have the potential to revolutionize the treatment of diseases previously deemed incurable.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the execution of histology procedures while verifying and maintaining quality standards.
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand goals and guide the histology team to set priorities and complete studies.
- Partner with CROs to ensure the prompt completion of outsourced projects.
- Interpret standard histology, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence stains used to characterize host tissue responses to implants.
- Be the leading expert on the conduct and evaluation of histology procedures, including sectioning, operating and maintaining staining equipment (IHC, H&E), optimizing staining protocols.
- Assist and review quantitative analyses of histology samples aided by image analysis software such as QuPath.
- Maintain clear and rigorous experimental records, including electronic laboratory notebooks, and review data generated by the team.
- Acquire a deep understanding of Aspect’s BTT technology and the interpretation of its characterization through histology.
Education & Experience
- Education + Experience: MSc or BSc in relevant scientific disciplines, 4-6 years of industry experience. A demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of histology procedures through certification as histo-technologist and/or histo-technician. Experience in managing histology operations is essential.
- Histology knowledge: Expert level understanding and hands on experience with microtomy, standard histology stains such as H&E, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
- Immunology background: Experience evaluating innate or adaptive immune responses to implanted biomaterials through histology would be highly beneficial to your application.
- Problem Solver: You love immersing yourself in difficult technical problems and coming up with solutions that work. You think outside the box and use your experience and intuition to identify when such solutions are realistic.
- Detail-Oriented & Meticulously Organized: You have outstanding attention to detail as well as experimental and process rigor. You take pride in your work and strive for excellence. You can multitask, prioritize competing deadlines, and have a track record for delivering work on time.
The hiring range for this role is $89,000 - $136,700, annually. Our pay scales are based on market data to ensure that compensation is competitive and fair. Offered salaries will be based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. For candidates who exceed role requirements, we are open to exploring above-range offers.
