We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to join our finance team in Burnaby, BC that is servicing Mexican market. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our financial operations while providing support for strategic decision-making across the organization, particularly within the SaaS or software sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, with a focus on the unique reporting needs of SaaS companies.
- Closing Processes: Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
- General Ledger Management: Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and detailed account analysis.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including VAT, payroll taxes, and other applicable taxes; prepare tax returns and ensure timely filings.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes to support financial planning.
- Audit Support: Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and liaising with external auditors.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in accounting processes.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor and train junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to support financial decision-making and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Native or Fluent Spanish
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- + 5 years of experience in Mexico in accounting, preferably in a senior role, with significant experience in financial reporting for SaaS companies.
- Experience with US GAAP is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Mexican tax laws, including VAT, payroll taxes, and corporate tax regulations.
- Proficiency in CONTPAQi accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Hands-on approach to financial processes and problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Previous experience leading a Finance team.
- Excellent communication/people skills to be able to create positive relationships across different departments
- Advanced English skills
- Ability to roll up your sleeves, learn and get into the details of the transactions to be able to propose and recommend solutions.
