Build and operate scalable backend software for Xero’s Accounting Core platform. Responsibilities include migrating monolithic systems to microservices, developing cloud services with C#/.NET Core and AWS, resolving legacy and database scalability challenges, modernizing APIs, automating processes, applying test-driven and trunk-based development, collaborating with stakeholders, and mentoring teammates.

Design and build scalable distributed systems, modernize monolithic components, improve CI/CD and testing practices, and develop technical solutions using technologies such as C#, .NET, React, AWS, and Kubernetes. The role includes making major architectural decisions, operating large-scale systems, contributing to engineering standards, mentoring engineers, and collaborating within an agile team.

Build and operate internal AI platforms, tooling, and skills marketplaces used by engineering teams. Develop agent guidance, monitoring, runbooks, and rollback practices; collaborate with AWS, Microsoft, and GitHub on emerging technologies; and influence technical direction across Xero’s engineering organization.
