Job DescriptionAs a part of our continued growth, AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly motivated Water/Wastewater Treatment EIT to join our treatment plants team based on site at the North Shore. The candidate for this position will work on municipal water/wastewater treatment, pump station and related infrastructure projects in all phases from planning and feasibility to detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Work successfully within a team environment and communicate effectively with other project team members and customers
- Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignment are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Undertake preliminary and detailed engineering design activities under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Exercise judgement limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Conduct daily site inspections on an active construction site, reviewing work by multiple disciplines
- Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Equipment selection and liaison with equipment suppliers and vendors.
- Preparation of technical specifications, special provisions and forms of tender.
- Prepare technical reports and analysis to support project assignments.
- Review of quantity and cost estimates for completeness and accuracy
- Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Provision of contract administration services during the construction of water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities
- Actively engage in professional development and industry events
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Process)
- Minimum of 2 years experience with municipal water/wastewater treatment plant or equivalent experience
- Eligibility for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in the province of BC.
Preferred Requirements:
- 4+ years of progressive experience
- Demonstrated communication skills through publications, presentations, and work
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills
- Knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include Revit, Plant3D, AutoCAD, BioWin, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient using common software packages (Excel, Word, MS Project, PowerPoint)
- Possess the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines across multiple projects
- Experience with project management concepts, principles, and duties
- Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position
