WHY WE THINK YOU WILL LOVE THIS ROLE
The Global Controller is a key member of the tms Global Finance Leadership Team with responsibility for GAAP Financial Reporting, Accounting, Management Reporting, and Financial Controls. The Global Controller ensures the effectiveness and adequacy of controls, policies and procedures and works close with the Chief Financial Officer and the VP, Financial, Planning, & Analysis (FP&A) in developing financial plans, forecasts, and business analysis. This professional will lead a team of 12.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ORGANIZATION
- Provide leadership and oversight for internal and external reporting, technical and financial accounting, and consolidation processes along with related variance analysis.
- Manage the streamlining and efficiency of accounting processes surrounding monthly, quarterly, and year end close cycles.
- Implement new and improved/upgraded finance and accounting technology as needed, including development of ERP strategy.
- Lead the development and maintenance of control policies, standards and procedures that comply with all regulatory guidelines (e.g., SOX) and promote cost-effective risk mitigation.
- Assess and report the status of existing standards, procedures, and controls to identify deficiencies and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other business areas in improving communication and teamwork to drive understanding of finance and accounting policies & controls and their associated impact on the business.
- Oversee management of the company credit card program.
- Develop and coach employees in order to engage, retain and grow organizational talent through focused attention and effort.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO HAVE
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Minimum of 15 years of work experience in progressively responsible roles in Accounting and/or Finance
- Brings a strong leadership profile; comfortable leading change; highly effective at engaging, developing, and motivating others within a team and laterally across the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex business issues and develop/implement solutions to support the business strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation skills.
- Strong executive presence, the ability to interpret and translate complex finance issues into concise and actionable data.
- Superior relationship skills to ensure success in fast-paced, evolving, and challenging business environment.
- CPA required; MBA, strongly preferred.
Any of the following would be a plus
- Public accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4 firm
- Prior experience as a corporate controller or assistant corporate controller in the same or similar industry with at least $100M in annual revenues
- Merger and acquisition experience including leading and executing diligence as well as managing technical accounting issues regarding transactions and purchase accounting.
Starting salary between $250,000-$300,000
