LMI Technologies, recognized as one of Canada's best workplaces, is a medium-sized technology company built on a culture of openness, respect and professional excellence. At LMI our staff work passionately towards the common goal of designing and delivering innovative 3D machine vision solutions to OEMs and System Integrators. Our customers rely on our cost-effective 3D sensor technologies that deliver the best results in even the most challenging 3D inline inspection applications.

The Opportunity

At LMI Technologies, we are defining the future of 3D measurement and inspection. We are seeking a resourceful and technical Vision Software QA Specialist to join our high-impact Applications & Technology team.

You will integrate into a collaborative team of 14 specialized engineers, serving as a key contributor responsible for the quality of our most advanced 3D data acquisition and measurement solutions.

This is a hands-on technical role. We are looking for a Quality Engineer who is passionate about digging deep into Python automation, working autonomously to uncover complex issues, and ensuring that the technology we deliver to our customers is robust and reliable.

What will you do?

You will work closely with your peers to ensure the quality of customer-facing and internal software. You will be responsible for creating and executing test plans, but your primary impact will be driving efficiency through code.

  • Engineer Automation: This is not just about running scripts; it is about writing them. You will develop, maintain, and expand our automated testing framework using Python, allowing the wider engineering team to innovate faster.
  • Own the Quality Standard: You will define acceptance criteria, risk analysis, and test scope. You will execute feature and bug fix testing using a combination of manual and automated techniques.
  • Tackle Complex Challenges: Test sophisticated measurement algorithms and robotics integrations. You will perform in-situ testing for hardware-dependent procedures, bridging the gap between code and physical reality.
  • Collaborate & Communicate: Work autonomously as a subject matter expert while communicating effectively with your 14 peers. You will be an active voice in design reviews and release planning.
  • Drive Visibility: Identify, document, and track software defects. You will provide accurate task estimates and status reports that give the team the visibility needed to manage releases effectively.

What do you need to be successful?

We are looking for a mindset of technical curiosity and precision. If you are a problem solver who loves breaking software to make it stronger, we want to hear from you.

The Essentials:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 3+ years in a Software QA or Test Engineering role.
  • The Toolkit: Deep experience with Python is critical. We need someone capable of writing complex automation scripts and tools from scratch, not just executing existing code.
  • The Mindset: Strong knowledge of QA methodologies (planning, scoping, functional/robustness criteria).
  • The Environment: Experience with issue tracking and version control tools (JIRA, TestRail, GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket).

The "X-Factor" (Nice to have, but not required):

  • Math & Vision: A strong mathematical background or experience with machine vision software/3D data.
  • Hardware Interaction: Experience testing software that controls physical hardware or robotics.

Why this role matters

You are the safety net for our technology stack. The work you do directly impacts the reliability of our products in the real world. By identifying risks early and automating repetitive tasks, you enable a team of world-class developers to focus on building the future of 3D scanning

What We Offer

  • Salary Range: CAD $72,000 - CAD $102,000 per annum
  • Health Benefits: Full health care coverage (with 100% paid premiums) including dental, vision, and drugs for you and your family.
  • Financial Perks: A competitive Profit Sharing Program, a Group Retirement Savings Plan, and a monthly internet allowance depending on the location.
  • Work-Life Balance: We support a healthy balance with hybrid work arrangements, flextime, and generous paid time off.
  • Growth & Development: An annual Education Support Program for training and professional growth, plus annual performance reviews and Lunch & Learns.
  • Enjoy free healthy snacks and drinks, team-building budgets, tenure awards, and our official "May the 4th" (Star Wars Day) company holiday!
  • Access to an on-site fitness facility, tennis/basketball court, and company-wide wellness challenges.
  • This is a hybrid position based out of our Burnaby, BC headquarters. To support our collaborative model, preference will be given to local candidates.
  • Please note that financial relocation assistance and immigration sponsorship are not available for this position.
  • We are recognized as a “Great Place to Work” for 10 consecutive years, spanning the 2016 through 2025 annual designations.
