Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern for our team to be based in our Burnaby, BC office.

This is a 4-month role expected to begin in September 2025.

 

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Help supports planning studies and reports for new and updated plans, programs and regulations.
  • Assists in the review of development proposals and site plans for conformance with codes, plans and regulations.
  • Prepares and presents detailed reports on development proposals to government bodies.
  • Will learn how to collect a variety of statistical data and prepares reports and maps on topics, such as census information, land use, transportation tax base data and occupancy rates.
  • Assists in evaluating re-zonings, ordinance amendments, site plans, special use permits, variances and other proposals.
  • Help coordinate community review of public and private development projects.
  • Provides information to the public regarding development regulations.
  • Assists in resolving citizen and customer issues.
  • Under direct supervision, conducts field evaluations and assessments.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must currently be in a relevant Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Urban planning, Sciences, or Computer Science
  • Must have completed 3 years of study

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An interest in working in ITS
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Good communication and time management skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office software
  • Passionate about transportation and urban planning
  • A positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with others
