Meet Benevity

Benevity is the way the world does good, providing companies (and their employees) with technology to take social action on the issues they care about. Through giving, volunteering, grantmaking, employee resource groups and micro-actions, we help most of the Fortune 100 brands build better cultures and use their power for good. We’re also one of the first B Corporations in Canada, meaning we’re as committed to purpose as we are to profits. We have people working all over the world, including Canada, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and more!

High-Level Overview

As a Technical and UX content writer, you will be part of the Product Content team and work closely with product teams to design exceptional product experiences. In this role, you will work on several of Benevity’s new products and AI features and create supporting technical documentation. You will apply your skills and expertise to develop meaningful, usable, and accessible content that impacts the product experience, shaping the way our clients and their employees build relationships with nonprofit organizations and give back to the community.
What you'll do:

  • Report directly to a Product Content Manager and be responsible for the technical writing and content design of your assigned product areas.
  • Apply a variety of UX content design methodologies to discover and design product content solutions (incl. research, workshops, content audits, taxonomies, priority guides, microcopy etc.), working collaboratively with your product design, product management, and engineering peers.
  • Draft, maintain, and edit feature documentation for Benevity’s external help centers, following technical writing best practices.
  • Follow and maintain content guidelines, templates, and standards, as well as processes and tools that help us evolve our content design and technical writing practice.
  • Ensure content is accessible and inclusive, being mindful of the impact words and language have on the people interacting with websites and products.
  • Foster a global mindset to encourage content creation and design solutions that are relevant and usable internationally.
  • Balance multiple projects and work as an integral part of the Product team.

What you'll bring:

  • Excellent English communication, writing, and editing skills.
  • Experienced UX content designer and technical writer with a solid understanding of user-centered design and creating accessible, inclusive content experiences.
  • Comfortable collaborating with product teams and aligning stakeholders (product designers, product managers, engineers).
  • A self-starter, able to organize and accomplish work with minimal supervision, working on multiple projects simultaneously, and managing deliverables and time effectively.
  • Accustomed to following style guides, standards, governance materials, content guidelines, and working with a design system.
  • Understanding of effective UX content methodologies aligned with the product development lifecycle.
  • Ability to develop new material with technical content in a way that is accessible to users.
  • Experience with content translation and localization is a plus.
