Job Description
The CIMA+ offices in Western Canada are in the middle of a large growth trajectory. This means new, exciting complex projects you will have the ability to shape and be a part of. We are seeking a talented Systems EIT to join our dynamic team in our Vancouver office.
Our ideal candidate has knowledge in telecom system engineering which may include a variety of types of systems which include telephony, public address, wired and wireless networks, SCADA and many more. Most of the systems that we are involve with are operationally critical, high reliability telecom systems, in the IT / OT converged space.
As part of a close-knit multi-disciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in the development of unique, “one of a kind” projects that shape the world we live in.
Interest in formal System Engineering practice as defined by INCOSE is also highly valued as these principles guide most of the projects that we undertake.
Primary responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers in the architecture, design, testing, validation phases of telecom systems.
- Applying Systems Engineering principals and best practise to support overall project delivery.
- Participate in the technical specifications, tender packages and V&VT and system integration plans.
- Support systems integration planning and testing activities to meet business and operational requirements.
- Prepare bill of materials (BOM) for Contractors.
- Understand and follow the client’s documentation as well as regulatory codes and standards.
- Provide technical data and timely support to internal and external stakeholders when required.
- Interface with other technical disciplines such as Power Supply & Distribution, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Architectural, Trackwork, Civil and others; including coordination and design of Systems interfaces, both physical and functional.
- Meet deadlines as determined in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- Perform engineering tasks according to corporate safety policies, standards, and procedures.
Qualifications
The candidate must have the following education and experience:
- University degree in Engineering, or similar subject (preferably Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical/Physics/Systems Engineering).
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience in consulting, systems engineering and/or complex integration with significant experience in IIoT projects.
- Well developed technical writing and verbal communications skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Professional Engineer License (P.Eng.) eligibility is required.
The ideal candidate will also possess the following:
- Sound judgment, effective organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrable knowledge in a minimum of three of the following technical aspects:
- Networking (Switching and routing)
- Wi-Fi
- LTE system
- Fibre Optic
- SCADA
- Telephony
- Public address systems
- Interest in developing INCOSE System Engineering knowledge including:
- Full lifecycle engineering QA and/or Systems Engineer processes
- Solution architecting / design
- Requirements management
- Integration and interface management
- Stakeholder management
- Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) analysis
- IEC 15288: 2015
The expected salary for this position is from $70,000 to $80,000 and is based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
