Hi, I’m Colin, a Senior Design Manager at Jane. I’ve been here for about two and a half years, and I get to work alongside an incredibly thoughtful group of designers who care deeply about creating intuitive and delightful experiences. Our Design team exists to help practitioners focus on what they love most - helping their clients - by removing friction and making complex work feel simple.
On a more personal note, I live on BC’s upper Sunshine Coast. When I’m not thinking about design, you’ll usually find me biking, making experimental music, playing tabletop games, or reading small-press comics.
This role is a Staff Product Designer on the Insurance team. The Insurance team is responsible for defining and building Jane’s long-term strategy for supporting practitioners as they set up, coordinate, and process insurance claims for their clients. Insurance billing is a critical part of running a successful clinic, but it’s often seen as frustrating or unavoidable. We believe it can be better, and your work will help shape how thousands of clinics get paid, serve their patients, and grow their businesses.
This role is exciting because it sits at the intersection of meaningful customer impact, complex problem spaces, and strong design leadership. You’ll help us move beyond feature delivery and toward solving the right problems, while building an insurance experience that feels trustworthy, human, and genuinely helpful.
What Impact We’re Looking for You to MakeCreate insurance billing experiences that feel efficient, clear, and as painless as possible for both clinics and their patients, helping customers get paid faster and with more confidence.
Advocate for our customers by grounding decisions in thoughtful user research, clearly representing their needs, and helping teams stay focused on real problems.
Step into leadership moments by aligning stakeholders, communicating the why behind your work with clarity, and using storytelling to bring cross-functional partners along.
Raise the bar for quality by delivering consistently strong design outcomes, iterating based on real-world usage, and creating experiences that build trust and delight over time.
Turn ambiguous and abstract problems into tangible, well-framed solutions that shift teams from feature-focused execution to true problem-solving.
8+ years of product design experience, ideally in SaaS or similarly complex environment
A strong sense of ownership, including following designs into production, monitoring how they perform in the real world, and iterating based on what actually happens.
The ability to reframe problems like a designer, defining what success looks like before jumping to solutions and using principles to guide thoughtful trade-offs.
Experience partnering closely with product, engineering, and other peers, involving them early, communicating openly, and treating technical constraints as design opportunities.
A solid understanding of how AI systems work, with experience designing trustworthy, human-centered experiences that are thoughtfully supported by AI.
Previous experience in any of the following a bonus: multi-sided marketplaces, financial data handling, regulatory compliance, and locale-specific privacy/security requirements
