What you'll be doing
As a Senior IT Project Manager in the Core Banking & Payments Technology team, you will manage a portfolio of projects from end-to-end. Reporting to the Director, IT Project management. You will work with peers across various partnering Lines of Business in both Technology and Business to support the successful delivery of all projects in the portfolio. You will also play a lead role in the development, implementation and ongoing management of project controls and processes across your projects and ensuring that these controls and processes are aligned with the larger CIBC Enterprise Delivery Framework (EDF).

How you'll succeed
Project Management – Outline project goals, terms of reference, resource requirements, and costs. Create a resource plan that ensures all stakeholders have a voice on the project. Assess the efficiency of the practices and procedures used by a team and provide guidance that will continuously improve the project plan. Continuous management of the Integrated Project Plan, Scope, Financials and communicating status to stakeholders.
Project Coordination – Proactively identify risks to the project schedule and find ways to mitigate them. Monitor milestones; ensure they are completed according to timelines and budgets. Execute a project plan that strikes the right balance between budget, time, and risk.
Financials – Strong understanding of Project Forecasting, Financial Reconciliation, Accruals and Variance analysis. Experienced in Excel Look-ups, Pivot Tables and Financial modelling is an asset.
Who you are
You can demonstrate at least 5-8 years of experience in project management, ideally within the financial services or technology industry. You have experience with waterfall and agile methodologies and knowledge of the Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC). You have experience with project management and issue management tools like Microsoft Project, Excel, and JIRA. The Senior Project Manager is a seasoned expert responsible for guiding a group of project managers in the delivery of highly complex projects from end to end including initiation, requirement gathering, design, construction, testing, implementation and closure. The role works with minimal direction on complex projects, providing expert level knowledge of project management principles, standards, and business consulting through considerable project delivery experience. The Senior Project Manager uses significant latitude to control projects, conduct status reviews, provide business guidance, identify any deviations to the project plan, and recommend corrective action to mitigate potential issues. The role analyzes situations and data to prepare and deliver executive level presentations to keep management informed of project status, changes, and milestone achievements.
You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study. It’s an asset if you have your PMP designation.
