The Digital Marketing Specialist supports digital initiatives and assists across various marketing campaigns. This role focuses on enhancing Essex’s digital presence through website updates, managing digital advertising, and generating reports. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, a strong communicator, and a team player capable of handling multiple tasks. The role will assist in optimizing marketing systems, contribute to SEO efforts, and help ensure that digital touchpoints align with broader marketing objectives. This position also involves managing key project milestones, tracking progress, and supporting data analysis for improved decision-making.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Website Management:
- Assist in updating and maintaining website content to ensure accuracy and alignment with brand standards.
- Help monitor website performance and collaborate on troubleshooting technical issues.
Digital Advertising:
- Support digital advertising initiatives by monitoring and optimizing PPC campaigns, Internet Listing Service (ILS) listings, and other digital platforms to drive lead generation, enhance visibility, and support business goals.
Content Coordination Support:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and update relevant content for digital channels, ensuring that it reflects campaign goals and engages the target audience.
- Support ongoing marketing optimizations for lease up, acquisition and stabilized communities.
SEO & Optimization:
- Provide SEO support by conducting keyword research and implementing basic optimization strategies to improve search rankings and user experience.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Pull data from digital campaigns, track metrics, and assist in creating performance reports. Support the team in analyzing trends and making data-driven recommendations, including ongoing marketing testing and analysis.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure clear communication across projects supporting internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in managing project timelines and milestones, ensuring smooth execution of marketing initiatives.
- Conduct competitive research as well as keep-up-to date on industry trends.
Special Projects:
- Participate in special marketing projects and support other marketing team functions as needed.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or communications.
- 2+ years of corporate marketing or agency experience.
- Working knowledge of Content Management Systems, particularly Sitecore, CMS and email management platforms.
- Proficiency in HTML, XHTML, CSS design, and cross-browser/cross-platform compatibility.
- Working knowledge of SEO and applied tactical strategies to enhance organic traffic.
- Proficiency in creating website design layouts using FIGMA and Adobe Suite.
- Strong attention to detail with analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Access, MySQL, W3C Web standards, and JavaScript is a plus.
- Certifications in Google Ads, Google Analytics, preferred.
WHAT THE JOB REQUIRES:
- Work is primarily conducted in an office setting. Requires sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods. Involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
- Requires the ability to work Monday through Friday. Entails in-person office requirements for a minimum of 3 days per week: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, located at Essex's corporate offices in Irvine, Woodland Hills, San Mateo, and Bellevue.
- Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Minimal physical effort in the day-to-day tasks.
- Minimal travel may be required for occasional meetings, training, or conferences.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:
- No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers. May coordinate work and assign tasks.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $43.75 per hour. New hires generally start between $31.25 - $37.50 per hour. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.What you need to know about the Vancouver Tech Scene
