About Delta Intelligent Building Technologies (Canada) Inc. (formerly known as Delta Controls)

Delta Intelligent Building Technologies (Canada) Inc. is a leading building controls manufacturer. For over three decades, we have provided innovative building automation solutions for commercial, healthcare, education, and leisure facilities.

Job Summary

We are building a modern cloud platform that simulates device firmware at scale using containerized environments running on Amazon EKS. These emulated devices form the backbone of automated orchestration, workflow validation, and system-level testing. Our platform relies heavily on Python-based services, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) with Terraform, and scalable Kubernetes environments.

We are hiring a Junior Software Developer to help build, maintain, and evolve the firmware emulation platform and supporting cloud services. You will work on containerized workflows, Python-based tooling, and Terraform-managed infrastructure that supports large-scale simulation scenarios.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Python services supporting firmware emulation and orchestration workflows
  • Build and update containerized firmware emulation environments running on Amazon EKS
  • Implement and improve infrastructure using Terraform (modules, environments, pipelines)
  • Collaborate with firmware, cloud, and QA teams to support large-scale testing and simulation scenarios
  • Develop APIs, scripts, and tools that help orchestrate and validate emulated device behavior
  • Debug issues across containers, Python services, Kubernetes clusters, and cloud infrastructure
  • Contribute to CI/CD, code reviews, documentation, and shared engineering processes
  • Participate in architecture discussions and identify areas for improvement in platform reliability and efficiency

Required Skills / Qualification

  • 0–2 years’ experience as a software developer
  • Solid Python programming fundamentals
  • Understanding of containers (Docker) and basic Kubernetes concepts
  • Familiarity with Linux/macOS development environments
  • Interest in Infrastructure-as-Code and eagerness to learn Terraform
  • Basic understanding of APIs, service-to-service communication, and backend development
  • Ability to follow guidance from senior engineers and contribute to small-to-medium tasks
  • Strong communication skills, ownership, and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative, curious and motivated to learn new tools and cloud technologies
  • Nice-to-have: Personal or academic projects involving Kubernetes or containerization, exposure to Terraform, EKS, or cloud services, basic understanding of embedded systems or firmware behavior, experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.)
