ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Technical Recruiter to join our growing Talent team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of the entire recruiting lifecycle for engineering, product, and other technical roles — from sourcing and screening to closing exceptional candidates.

You’ll partner closely with technical hiring managers and leaders to deeply understand our technology, culture, and hiring needs, ensuring we attract top-tier talent who raise the bar. If you thrive in a fast-moving startup environment, love building relationships with technical talent, and have a knack for spotting potential beyond the resume, we’d love to meet you.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own full-cycle technical recruiting for roles across Engineering, Product, and related technical teams — from sourcing through offer acceptance.

  • Build and manage strong talent pipelines using sourcing tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, Gem, and GitHub.

  • Partner closely with hiring managers to define role requirements, interview processes, and evaluation criteria.

  • Deliver an exceptional candidate experience through clear communication, prompt follow-up, and authentic representation of our culture.

  • Run efficient interview processes — scheduling, feedback collection, and pipeline updates — ensuring hiring velocity without sacrificing quality.

  • Negotiate offers and close candidates with a deep understanding of market compensation, motivators, and team fit.

  • Stay current on tech talent market trends, emerging sourcing strategies, and competitive intelligence to continually improve our approach.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Talent Acquisition to optimize recruiting operations, processes, and tools to support scale.

  • Drive strategic sourcing initiatives and experiment with new channels to expand access to high-caliber technical talent.

  • Maintain accurate recruiting metrics and reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.

  • Mentor junior recruiters or interviewers on best practices to uplift hiring quality across the company.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5-7 years of full-cycle recruiting experience with a focus on product, design and engineering.

  • Proven ability to source, engage, and close technical talent in a competitive market.
Experience working in a high-growth or startup environment, comfortable with shifting priorities and fast execution.

  • Proficient with sourcing tools and creative sourcing techniques and familiarity with ATS platforms like Ashby is a plus.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple requisitions efficiently.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust with both candidates and hiring teams.

  • Creative problem solver who proactively identifies ways to improve candidate pipelines and hiring outcomes.

  • Curious and adaptable, always exploring new recruiting techniques and tools.

NICE TO HAVES
  • Experience recruiting for SaaS or AI/tech companies.

  • Knowledge of the Canadian tech talent landscape and compensation trends.

  • Experience supporting both high-volume and specialized technical searches.

WHY JOIN SPELLBOOK?

  • Access our company-paid group benefits for you and your family, with $1,000 towards mental health support

  • Disconnect during our holiday closure and take advantage of our generous time off policies throughout the year

  • Enjoy monthly paid meals, an annual wellness allowance to support your well-being and parental leave top-ups as your family grows

  • Secure your stake in our success; you’ll receive competitive stock option grants as a pivotal early employee

We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive candidate experience. Should you require any accommodation whatsoever during the interview process, please inform us without any hesitation.
