The Problems You'll Solve

The Events Platform team builds solutions to capture and surface domain events and change data for all services at Carta. This platform is critical, enabling and evangelizing event driven architecture at Carta. The team is responsible for core infrastructure offerings including maintaining Kafka, Debezium and Change Data Capture cloud services; for core platform offerings including Carta’s database auditing system and domain event generation/consumption libraries; and some product offerings including our event based notification system.

Some of the problems you could be solving include:

  • How can we build auditable products using domain events and real-time change data?
  • How can we encapsulate complex business logic into meaningful domain events?
  • How can we accelerate building derived products via domain events?
  • How can we simplify and enhance the developer experience with streaming technologies?
  • How can we multiply the value of events outside of product-to-product communication?
  • How can we build a platform that offers decentralized event ownership, federated governance and drives reusable event-driven products?
The Team You'll Work With

Our platform business unit is responsible for everything from core cloud-based infrastructure to service meshes, identity services, document storage, integrations with banks and HR systems, money movement, and tooling for financial equity analysis. We also incubate new product ideas for Carta.

You’ll join a small, cross-functional team as a Senior Software Engineer II. Day-to-day, you’ll have opportunities to partner closely with other engineers, product managers, and business leaders. We believe in smaller teams to allow for greater focus and have an immense amount of ownership over the problems that we solve.  We have a strong collaborative relationship between Product and Engineering.  Being helpful is ingrained in our culture.

About You

You have strong technical skills, are excited by projects that create scale, and enjoy working closely with stakeholders across engineering as well as product. You continually strive to improve your craft of creating complex software products. You see communication as one of your strengths.

You have 8+ years of full-stack or backend engineering experience, and experience architecting complex SaaS products with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices. You have industry experience developing scalable production quality backend systems. You have experience with microservices, Kafka experience required.

We use Java and Python to build backend services. A requirement is to work in either language. Our team consists of people who are happy to help you learn everything you need to be successful at Carta.
