At SoFi, we are redefining the future of finance. As a Senior Frontend Engineer on the Home Loans team, you’ll play a key role in building and optimizing our lending experience, focusing on a scalable, performant, and maintainable frontend platform. You will work closely with product, design, and backend teams to develop modular, reusable components and ensure a seamless experience for our customers.

We are looking for an experienced frontend engineer with expertise in Next.js, React, and TypeScript, a strong understanding of frontend performance optimizations, and a passion for delivering high-quality, accessible user experiences.

If you are excited about composable architectures, frontend design patterns, and collaborating on system-wide improvements, we’d love to hear from you!

This role requires physical presence in Helena, MT. This is not open to a remote option.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance frontend applications.
  • Build modular, reusable UI components that support a component-driven and configuration-based architecture.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers, PMs, and designers to ensure well-structured APIs, seamless data fetching, and optimized frontend-backend communication.
  • Implement frontend performance optimizations, including lazy loading, caching strategies, and Lighthouse/Core Web Vitals improvements.
  • Write clean, maintainable code emphasizing testing, including unit, integration, and E2E tests.
  • Work closely with design teams to integrate and maintain a design system with a strong focus on accessibility (a11y) and user experience.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural planning to improve team-wide frontend best practices.
  • Stay updated with the latest frontend technologies and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

What You’ll Need:

  • 5+ years of experience in frontend development using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
  • Strong expertise in Next.js and React, with a deep understanding of client-side rendering (CSR), server-side rendering (SSR), static site generation (SSG), and hybrid rendering strategies.
  • Experience with state management tools like Zustand, Redux Toolkit, Recoil, or React Query.
  • Knowledge of frontend performance optimization techniques, including code splitting, asset preloading, lazy loading, and caching strategies.
  • Hands-on experience integrating with backend services using REST, GraphQL, WebSockets, or event-driven architectures.
  • Familiarity with frontend testing strategies, including unit tests, integration tests, and E2E testing (Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
  • Strong understanding of design system integration and accessibility best practices (WCAG, ARIA standards).
  • Proficiency in frontend build systems and tooling (Webpack, Vite, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with mobile WebView integration to enable a unified cross-platform UX.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices such as containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms like AWS (S3, Lambda, CloudFront).
  • Background in financial services, lending platforms, or credit decisioning workflows.
