About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer at Fortis, you’ll play an important role in developing the software at the heart of one of our new games. You’ll design and build gameplay features and reusable systems, and collaborate with multiple teams of talented and multidisciplinary developers. You will assist in scope definition, planning, and work estimation, and create and evaluate technical documentation and processes to deliver the highest quality product for our players.

What you’ll achieve
  • Write and maintain long-lasting, high-quality code.
  • Instrument, profile, and analyze code to identify and fix complex bugs and performance issues
  • Produce technical design documentation to explain and educate stakeholders and fellow engineers about software design decisions and principles
  • Plan and estimate tasks as needed to deliver on timelines that you set.
  • Operate as an effective, professional, and supportive member of a multidisciplinary game development team.
  • Support the launch, growth, and live operation of the game.
What you’ll need
  • Extensive familiarity and prior experience with the Unity game engine and mobile game development.
  • Familiarity with entity-component-system (ECS)-based software architecture, particularly as applied to Unity games.
  • Strong coding fundamentals and understanding of data structures, libraries, and performance in C#.
  • Demonstrated ability to write gameplay code that creates fun, engaging, and lasting player experiences.
  • The ability to quickly isolate and debug complex issues within code
  • Must be proactive, self-directed, organized, and willing and able to learn more
  • Exemplify exceptional confidence in your work and attention to the quality of work you produce
  • Mindfulness of how design decisions impact performance and user experience
