Job Summary:
Central 1 connects the credit union system to Payments Canada, Interac, and global payment networks, ensuring secure, efficient, and compliant payment processing. It provides technologies and partnerships that meet AML/ATF, Sanctions, and Compliance standards, allowing members to transact safely.
As a Senior Product Manager within the Risk Product and Services team, you will lead the implementation of a new Enterprise Transaction Monitoring (ETM) AML/ATF system to support compliance and Central 1’s Payment Growth Strategy. You will also develop a managed service offering for a SaaS AML/ATF and Sanctions risk management solution while managing other regulatory initiatives for credit unions and payment clients. Post-implementation, you will maintain a long-term roadmap and oversee ongoing management of these products.

What you'll be doing:

Collaborate Across Teams: Work with developers, testers, credit unions, financial institutions, fintech customers, and end-users to prioritize and evolve the Enterprise Transaction Monitoring (AML) product.

Act as Customer Proxy: Represent customer needs to technology teams, blending traditional and agile methods.

Manage Product Backlog: Define, prioritize, and manage backlog, set acceptance criteria, and ensure customer validation while maintaining technical integrity.

Develop Roadmap: Create a mid-term roadmap aligned with Central 1’s strategy and present ideas for approval to stakeholders, including customers and senior leadership.

Participate in Agile Processes: Attend agile ceremonies, actively manage the backlog, and drive product progression.

Ensure Alignment: Collaborate with senior staff across Payment lines of business to align product plans with customer, program, and business goals.

Engage with End-Users: Gather feedback directly (face-to-face) and indirectly (through user testing and data) to understand user requirements.

Prioritize New Features: Evaluate new features based on competitive analysis, industry trends, customer feedback, and company vision.

Develop Client Relationships: Build strong client relationships and represent Central 1 as a thought leader at industry events.

Support Product Promotion: Partner with sales, marketing, and operations to promote and deliver the managed services.

Leverage AML/ATF Expertise: Collaborate with internal AML/ATF experts to ensure effective development, implementation, and operations of the product and services.
What you'll have:

Agile Product Delivery: Proven experience delivering products using Agile methodologies.

B2B and Technical Expertise: Strong background in B2B services, technology development, and data-driven decision-making.

AML/Regulatory Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of AML, FINTRAC, OSFI, and global initiatives (FATF).

Payments Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with payments systems is an asset.

Business and Technical Acumen: Strong business background with financial skills and sound judgment.

Experience: 8+ years in software and services product management, preferably in financial services, credit unions, or banks.

Education: Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business/Marketing (or equivalent experience).

AML/ATF Expertise: Deep knowledge of AML/ATF systems, controls, legislation, and guidelines.

Sanctions Knowledge: Strong understanding of sanctions legislation and related regulations.

Certifications (Preferred): CAMS, CFCS, or other recognized AML/Financial Crimes certifications.

Familiarity with Tools: Experience with screening and transaction monitoring tools (SAS, Actimize, Oracle, World-check, Lexis Nexis, Refinitiv, etc.).

Strategic AML Expert: Recognized for extensive AML management expertise in multi-product, multi-business environments.

Predictive Analytics (Optional): Understanding of data’s role in insights, strategy, and monitoring.

Product Management Skills: Experience in Agile environments as a Product Owner/Manager, managing and prioritizing backlogs.

Industry Trends & Risk Assessment: Strong grasp of industry trends, client needs, and risk/opportunity assessment.

Stakeholder Management: Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and leadership skills across matrix organizations.

Communication & Influence: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to influence senior leaders.

Salary range: $90,000-$110,000
The salary range represents the job rate determined for the successful candidate who is fully competent in the role. The actual salary will vary depending on market conditions and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
