Your opportunity at Arc’teryx:
As a Senior Product Developer, you are responsible for managing our most technical and complex products from design maker phase (concept) through to production readiness. You lead with integrity and by example, providing overall support and mentoring to the Product Developers. Your innovative and solutions-focused approach to development ensures that each product you work on meets Arcteryx design intent and Brand integrity requirements.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is expected to be performed on-location. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

You are part of a focused team of product developers, designers, pattern makers, and cut and sew team that works on creating innovative products. This team builds strong relationships with cross-functional partners to realize ideas into commercialized successes.
If you were the Senior Product Developer now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Executing the development of our most technical and complex product from design maker phase (concept) and intent through to pre-production readiness
- Leading and influencing the development process to achieve commercial viability of designs through partnership and collaboration with Product Design, Raw Materials, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Production and Quality departments
- Partnering and collaborating with Design, Pattern Making, Sample Sewing teams internally, as well as with our vendors, to ensure concepts and prototypes meet established function, fit, quality and construction standards going into pre-production
- Collaborating, partnering, and aligning with other Senior Product Developers to ensure consistency across product type (i.e. construction standards, process, and sharing of best practices)
- Supporting and coaching Product Developers and Product Development Assistants daily and training new hires as required, encouraging effective problem solving and discretionary decision making
- Compiling all product materials/construction information, and maintaining an accurate database documentation of BOM information and technical specifications that will result in efficient raw material sourcing and purchasing and accurately produced finished product
- Executing to calendar deliverables, including but not limited to concept sample and prototype development, material validation, initial quality evaluation and approval requirements with key stakeholders
- Contributing to the creation and evolution of construction standards in conjunction with the Product Integrity team
- Working in conjunction with the Merchandising, Design, and Brand Marketing teams to ensure all external product communication accurately reflects model requirements and specifications
- Communicating opportunities for process improvement with a lean forward attitude to drive evolution within our Product Creation process
- Liaising with cross-functional departments to provide Development support as needed, facilitating cross-departmental problem solving
- Providing input into Product Operations in evolving IS requirements in Development applications and on the development of training tools
- Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing, throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:
- Working with developing in house sampling and direct to factory developments
- Working on future concepting and product testing alongside the Advanced Concepts department
- Working on the evolution of how we commercialize product cross-functionally
Are you our next Senior Product Developer?
- You have 7+ years’ experience as Product Designer, Industrial Designer, Product Development (developing product/process) with a focus on technical design development
- You have an Undergraduate Degree Industrial Design, Technical Degree OR equivalent industry training, certification, or related business experience
- You have strong critical problem-solving skills, with the ability to think outside of the box and work outside of the seasonal timelines when needed
- You have experience effectively communicating with and travelling to domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers
- You have a comprehensive understanding of design intent, product aesthetics, construction, 3D form study, production and fit
- You have a complete understanding of the product lifecycle process - from ideation to consumer
- You have a strong knowledge of raw materials, technical construction, and sourcing
- You are familiar with key tools; Adobe Suite, or similar software (Centric a plus)
- You are detail- and accuracy-oriented with strong organizational skills
- You demonstrate initiative, agility and commitment
- You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
