The summary above was generated by AI
Small businesses represent 99.9% of all companies, yet they're still forced to choose between clunky, outdated enterprise phone systems or their personal phones. This multi-billion dollar market has been overlooked for decades, left to cobble together solutions that slow them down instead of helping them grow.

Quo is changing that. We bring calls, texts, and customer information together into one easy-to-use, AI-powered platform. We’re not just building a phone system. We’re setting a new standard for how businesses connect with their customers.

Driven by our values, we move fast, build with determination, and obsess over delivering value to the businesses that have been underserved for far too long.

Today, Quo is trusted by more than 90,000 companies and rated #1 in customer satisfaction on G2. We’re backed by Y Combinator, Tiger Global, Craft Ventures, Slow Ventures, and other top-tier investors. It’s safe to say we’re onto something big.
About the role

As a Senior Platform Engineer, Infrastructure at Quo, you will spend a majority of your time coding, architecting, and operating moderate to complex platform components. Beyond your technical work, you may also lead a small team or a project. You might also spend time providing technical guidance, code reviews, and designing and delivering on small/medium size projects end-to-end.

This role focuses on cloud infrastructure, networking, and platform safety, with an emphasis on operating scalable, reliable systems. You will work in close partnership with Platform Backend Engineers to build and evolve a platform that is scalable, reliable, and safe by default for product engineers.

Some of the things you’ll do:

  • Design, deploy, and operate large-scale, cloud-native distributed systems, owning the infrastructure foundations that underpin Quo’s backend services and deployment workflows. Define and help implement core platform patterns that enable reliability, scalability, and safe change over time.
  • Build and operate core observability, monitoring, and telemetry infrastructure, working with engineering and customer support teams to ensure systems are diagnosable, incidents are actionable, and operational signals meaningfully improve customer experience.
  • Partner closely with Platform Backend Engineers and product teams to adopt best practices, evolve platform capabilities, and introduce new technologies in a way that balances reliability, velocity, and long-term maintainability.
  • In any of these areas, you’ll have the opportunity to tackle impactful challenges and help build scalable backend systems that support a growing user base.

Technical stack and tools:

  • We use Kubernetes (EKS) on AWS to orchestrate our infrastructure setup and deployment. We utilize CloudFlare services to route, accelerate and protect our services. Our backend is built on Node using Typescript. The overall architecture is event-driven microservices with RabbitMQ and Temporal at the center of it all.
  • We use a variety of databases for different purposes: Postgres (including Aurora and Supabase), Cassandra, Snowflake, turbopuffer, Mongo, Elastic, and Redis.
  • We design and operate public API ingress and routing using cloud-native load balancing and application-level services.
  • We use Retool for some internal support applications.
  • Observability Tools: Datadog
  • Other Tools: Figma, Linear, Notion, and Slack

About you

  • Strong proficiency in Terraform and comfortable in Python and Bash
  • Exposure to Typescript (or experience with object-oriented languages such as Java, C#, etc.) and Javascript/Node
  • Experience with CI/CD systems like ArgoCD and Github Actions
  • Experience working with GraphQL in federated environments.
  • Competency in network routing and design.
  • Strong experience with observability tools, including metrics, structured logging and distributed tracing
  • You find joy in replacing mundane processes and tasks with automation, AI and applications
  • You are creative and flexible when selecting tools and solutions
  • You take ownership of your work and understand the importance of communication. You hold yourself to a high standard and help empower others to do the same.
  • You are intentional about how your work impacts customers, the community, and each other. You practice empathy, generosity, and thoughtfulness as you evaluate tradeoffs in pursuit of the best solution.
  • You are curious. You better seek to understand the ‘why’ behind things, so that you can better plan and build the ‘how’. You support your teammates and customers through the continuous pursuit of knowledge. You’re a lifelong learner.
  • Your code is a pleasure for your teammates to read and understand and you strive to ensure it is readable, testable, and maintainable.. When working in the codebase, you leave things better than you found them.
  • You embrace AI and find ways to use it to improve your work, rather than shying away from it.
