As IREN continues to scale globally, we are seeking an experienced People Operations & Governance leader to deliver on the frameworks, processes, and controls that enable sustainable growth.
This role will be responsible for ensuring our people programs, processes, and governance frameworks scale effectively alongside the business. Acting as a central point of coordination across the function, the successful candidate will oversee governance and compliance activities, maintain global people processes, and lead the planning, project management and execution of key People & Culture initiatives.
The role partners closely with leaders across Business Enablement, Talent & Culture, Total Rewards, People Technology, Legal, Risk & Compliance, Finance, and other corporate functions to ensure obligations are met, projects are delivered, and the People & Culture function operates efficiently, consistently, and with appropriate controls.

Responsibilities:

Governance, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Serve as the People & Culture function's central point of coordination for governance, compliance, audit, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure people-related obligations are understood, documented, and effectively managed across all jurisdictions.

  • Partner with Legal, Finance, Information Security, and business leaders to embed compliance requirements into programs, processes, and policies.

  • Coordinate audit readiness activities, regulatory reporting, due diligence requests, and compliance reviews.

  • Maintain and continuously improve policy governance, controls, and risk management frameworks.

 

Drive Global Process Excellence

  • Own and continuously improve global People & Culture processes across the entire employee lifecycle.

  • Develop and maintain scalable processes, playbooks, standards, and operating procedures that support consistency while accommodating local requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce bureaucracy, improve employee experience, and increase operational efficiency.

  • Partner with the People Systems & Technology team to leverage systems, automation, and data to drive better outcomes.

  • Act as a subject matter expert and advisor on People & Culture operating processes and governance.

 

Manage Programs & Projects

  • Project manage key People & Culture initiatives from planning through execution.

  • Coordinate recurring programs such as compensation reviews, talent and performance cycles, engagement initiatives, policy implementation, and leadership programs.

  • Lead people-related workstreams for mergers, acquisitions, business integrations, and expansion into new jurisdictions.

  • Develop project plans, manage risks and dependencies, track milestones, and provide senior leadership-level updates on progress and outcomes.

  • Support change management activities to ensure successful adoption of new programs, processes, systems, and ways of working.

 

Create Operational Discipline at Scale

  • Build the frameworks, governance, and operational rhythms that enable the People & Culture function to scale with the business.

  • Establish clear accountability, improve cross-functional coordination, and ensure critical initiatives are delivered effectively.

  • Help balance strong governance and risk management with a practical, business-focused approach.

  • Advanced capability with ATS platforms and recruitment analytics, using data to inform strategy and improve performance.

  • Highly analytical, with the ability to translate insights into practical, business-focused action.

  • Confident communicator and negotiator, able to influence stakeholders and build credibility at all levels.

  • Strong experience managing external agencies and search partners, with a focus on performance, accountability, and ROI.

  • Thrives in dynamic, evolving environments where pace is high and expectations are ambitious.


Requirements & Preferred Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, Program Management, Governance, Compliance, Business Operations, Consulting, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex cross-functional projects and programs.
  • Experience developing, documenting, and improving business processes and operating procedures.
  • Experience coordinating compliance, governance, audit, or risk-management activities.
  • Strong project management experience with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions and stakeholder groups.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting a public company environment.
  • Familiarity with SOX controls, ISO certifications, SOC2 requirements, privacy programs, or similar governance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or organizational transformations.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing HRIS and people technology solutions.
  • Experience in a rapidly growing or globally distributed organization.

Compensation 
  • The expected base salary for this role ranges from $150,000-$175,000 CAD. 
    • Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and market data for the region.
