The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a Senior Director, Insurance Programs and Services to join our Wealth & Insurance Advisory Services team.

Reporting to the VP Wealth Planning and Insurance Advisory Services, the Senior Director, Insurance Programs and Services is responsible for the implementation and execution of strategic initiatives that will support accelerated growth of the Insurance line of business of Aviso.  This position will primarily be B2B focused on MGA network expansion, and advice solutions.  The Senior Director will provide thought leadership and guidance on business development including operating structure, sales development & compensation models working with partner Wealth Leaders and Senior Leadership teams, both in the credit union and independent channel.   This is a sales role focused on the expansion of advice-based services with insurance solutions.  The Senior Director will assume leadership of the insurance sales & advisory team.

What your day looks like:

  • Supports the Credit Union Wealth senior leadership team on strategic matters and interacts with other lines of business and corporate divisions to develop a deep understanding of critical issues and manage high priority sales and strategic initiatives
  • Executes a partner, advisor and client focused development plan to accelerate business growth as part of the three-year business and operating plan
  • Act as MGA Agency Nominee in all provinces.  Ensures operating model, processes, and framework meet regulatory requirements including supervision requirements.
  • Guide advisor development programs which include insurance planning and sales within mass market all the way to complex estate and business markets
  • Prospect external partners for the insurance business and gain introductions for prospects through other division leaders in Aviso
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with insurance carriers , systems and software vendors, and  AGA relationship. 
  • Leads regional insurance consultants in our National Account Managing General Agency (MGA).  Work collaboratively with Regional Insurance Consultants (RICS) and the Sales Development and Advice team to provide a full suite of services to a growing number of insurance advisors. 
  • Play a key role in delivering corporate insurance growth strategies by ensuring high service standards in the MGA back office, and by managing contracts and relationships with insurance suppliers and vendors
  • Collaborate with internal team on delivery models and projects.  (Sales enablement, partnership team, compensation, operations, IT, business analytics, Hr, strategy etc).

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • University degree
  • 12+ years of experience within the insurance industry
  • Nominee eligible Insurance broker to meet requirements of provincial insurance Councils; and fulfill nominee and supervision requirements.
  • Life licensed within one or more jurisdictions across Canada having experience in direct sales of over 50 cases.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of life insurance agency operations, including National Account and MGA contracts, new business and policy service, agent contracting and policy transfers.
  • Financial planning designation is considered an asset. (CFP, RFP, PFP etc.)
  • Ability to navigate through a complex, multi-level business environment to deliver results and support business development with B2B partners at an executive level
  • Ability to create value and capitalize on unrealized opportunities in the market
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including understanding stakeholder needs and communicating credibly and effectively to your audience
  • Critical thinker with ability to apply business expertise and logic to multiple situations
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships
  • Demonstrates a history of enterprise level effectiveness with a track record of successfully executing key business initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to take a collaborative approach with a client centric philosophy
  • Familiarity with insurance sales process and types of insurance products is preferred.
  • Understanding insurance commissions is an asset.   
  • Familiarity with credit union wealth management is also an asset.
  • Business travel, as required
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual in French are an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $160,000 - $180,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
