As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining a resilient retail technology platform. Your primary focus is to discover opportunities for automation across our platform and to optimize our infrastructure management. You spearhead improvements to the developer experience that empower the development team to focus on implementing business features. Self-service enablement is your mantra. Meanwhile, you ensure outstanding availability for Arc’teryx's technology capabilities, including Omnichannel POS, retail physical/digital infrastructure.

In this position, you will not only contribute to the development of the platform but also serve as a mentor to fellow developers, support key initiatives, and help shape the technology strategy for the company's digital properties. Your expertise in platform development and strategic thinking will be essential in driving innovation and maintaining the highest standards of performance and reliability.

This role is primarily based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

If you were the Senior DevOps Engineer now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Advocating for and configuring relevant tooling to orchestrate our applications
  • Designing, implementing and maintaining flexible CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket Pipelines
  • Enhancing web application performance while establishing reliable monitoring and alerting mechanisms using an observability platform
  • Championing a security mindset by keeping software up to date and administering security monitoring and auditing tools
  • Implementing testing and deployment stages to ensure quality and fast feedback
  • Maintaining development, staging, and production environments
  • Troubleshooting issues with development teams to resolve them quickly
  • Collaborating with the development and architect teams to improve the overall software development lifecycle and pipeline implementations
  • Coaching your peers on the development teams in all phases of the project life cycle

  • Providing guidance and mentorship in good DevOps practice
  • Contributing to the formulation of technology strategies and roadmaps for Arc’teryx technology properties
  • Spearheading the creation and maintenance of resilient CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless software delivery for web applications
  • Automating infrastructure management processes to streamline operations and reduce manual efforts
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support platform development initiatives

Are you our next Senior DevOps Engineer?

  • You have 4+ years of IT engineering in a mix of infrastructure and development roles
  • You have 4+ years of experience in a DevOps role
  • You have strong experience with DevOps lifecycle, CI/CD integrations and workflows
  • You have strong scripting and automation skills
  • You have experience integrating 3rd party tools into the CI/CD such as Code quality and security scanning, Unit testing, Performance testing and Visual automation
  • You are familiar with AWS or Azure cloud platforms and infrastructure management tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • You have experience with Serverless Framework or SST on AWS
  • You have an in-depth understanding of the software development lifecycle and can communicate project and operation status, issues, risks and resolutions in an agile development methodology
  • You have experience introducing/integrating automation concepts into physical devices such as a payment terminal, Point of Sale hardware (Windows based), IoT devices, network devices (such as Meraki)
  • You have knowledge of Event driven architecture
  • You have knowledge of Micro Services concepts and architecture
  • You have exceptional communication, problem solving, and documentation skills
  • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
  • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity.
  • You are able to balance autonomy and collaboration
  • You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement
  • You seek the best (but sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment
