Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will lead the design and implementation of complex data architectures that drive critical business decisions across the organization. You'll architect scalable data solutions, optimize performance of data systems, and be a technical leader who mentors other engineers.
You'll leverage your deep expertise in data engineering to solve complex challenges while driving best practices and innovation. You'll collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, lead architectural decisions, and ensure our data infrastructure scales with business needs. Your influence will extend beyond your immediate team as you help shape our data engineering culture and practices.
This position is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
Meet Your Future Team:
The Supply Chain Analytics Squad builds and maintains data pipelines that power analytics and drive data-informed decision-making for our supply chain partners. We work in an agile, collaborative environment with data platform, architect, ERP, and technology teams to develop scalable analytics solutions. Our work includes integrating new data sources, performing complex transformations, enhancing data quality, and delivering dashboards and data products tailored to business needs.
If you were in the Senior Data Engineer role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Designing and implementing scalable data architectures (batch/streaming, lakehouse) using Azure Databricks, and PySpark
- Leading migrations from legacy systems to cloud-native platforms, ensuring minimal downtime and maximal performance
- Advocating for data mesh principles and dimensional modeling best practices
- Optimizing ETL/ELT workflows for structured and semi-structured data (e.g., Cosmos DB integrations)
- Establishing data quality frameworks, monitoring systems, and governance policies aligned with compliance standards
- Partnering with SecOps/FinOps teams to enforce security protocols and cost controls
- Mentoring junior engineers through code reviews, technical workshops, and hands-on guidance
- Leading cross-functional design reviews and backlog prioritization for critical initiatives
- Evaluating emerging tools (e.g., GenAI pipelines, real-time processing) and driving proof-of-concept projects
- Embodying Arc’teryx’s leadership code (Lead Self, Lead Others, Lead Business) through accountability, innovation, and mentorship
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:
- Leading the implementation of data mesh architecture across the organization
- Designing advanced data quality and observability frameworks to ensure data reliability
- Establishing enterprise-wide data governance standards and implementation patterns
- Creating automated tooling for self-service data infrastructure provisioning
- Mentoring junior engineers and shaping the technical culture of the data organization
- Building specialized data processing solutions for complex business domains
- Optimizing cloud infrastructure for performance, cost, and sustainability
- Collaborating with data scientists to enable ML-ready datasets and real-time analytics
- Defining CI/CD workflows, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and SDLC best practices
Are you our next Senior Data Engineer?
- You have 5–8 years of experience in data engineering, with expertise in cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and modern tools (Databricks, PySpark)
- You have advanced SQL and Python skills, with hands-on experience in large-scale ETL/ELT, data lakes, and NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB)
- You have a proven track record in optimizing pipelines, implementing governance, and leading system migrations
- You have strong knowledge of DevOps practices (CI/CD), data mesh concepts, and dimensional modeling
- You have experience mentoring teams, leading architecture reviews, and influencing technical roadmaps
- You are able to communicate complex technical strategies to stakeholders and executives
- You have a passion for outdoor adventures and alignment with Arc’teryx’s values of sustainability and innovation
