Job Description

AECOM is searching for a Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager to be based in our Burnaby, BC office for our Water and Wastewater conveyance group. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding and significant experience in civil engineering, civil technology, project management, design and construction of municipal infrastructure. They will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers.  They will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and display drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers, mostly within the municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater sectors.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to , client communication and management; proposal preparation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Design and project management of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater /drainage conveyance and treatment facilities
  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports
  • Prepare construction cost estimates
  • Preparation of project specifications and contract documents
  • Perform constructability reviews
  • Perform contract administration
  • Perform construction inspections

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering + 12 years of relevant experience in civil engineering or municipal engineering.
  • Experience with civil engineering, planning, design, construction inspection, and contract administration in municipal water and wastewater-related projects
  • P.Eng with EGBC or ability to obtain within 18 months 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with design and project management for water/wastewater/drainage treatment and conveyance infrastructure
  • Experience in proposal writing and job scoping
  • Familiarity with BIM, CAD, and Hydraulic Modelling platforms
  • Contract Administration certification (MMCD, CCDC, etc.)
  • Excellent written skills needed for technical reports
  • Valid BC Class V Driver's License
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients
  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
