Hiive is redefining how private companies and their shareholders access liquidity. Through its institutional-grade platform, Hiive brings together buyers, sellers, and issuers to facilitate secondary transactions in venture-backed, pre-IPO companies, introducing efficiency, transparency, and standardization to an otherwise opaque asset class.

Recognized as one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies and backed by leading U.S. investors, Hiive is profitable, well-capitalized, and building a high-performance team to meet growing demand and pursue new market opportunities.

As the founding Senior Associate, Corporate Development, you will be the first dedicated hire in a function that sits at the center of the company's growth strategy. Working directly with the Chief of Staff, you will evaluate M&A opportunities, manage a growing pipeline of strategic partnerships, and produce analysis and recommendations that inform how Hiive expands into new markets, products, and customer segments. The work spans due diligence, competitive research, and strategic decision support across a diverse and growing portfolio of active workstreams. This is a high-exposure role with real stakes. In any given week, you might evaluate an acquisition target, advance partnership negotiations, map a new competitive landscape, and draft a recommendation that shapes where the company invests next.

In this role, your responsibilities would include:

  • Sourcing and evaluating M&A and partnership opportunities, both by screening inbound interest and conducting proactive outbound searches, including working with sales & trading to identify strategic leads from commercial activity.

  • Managing the corporate development and partnership pipeline across active workstreams, including tracking, drafting briefs, managing follow-up cadences, and building internal alignment across stakeholders required to advance opportunities.

  • Producing strategic research that leadership can act on, including market landscape assessments, competitive analysis, and build-buy-partner recommendations for new business lines.

  • Preparing deal memos for specific M&A and partnership opportunities, including preliminary due diligence, strategic fit assessment, and key risks.

  • Supporting deal execution by coordinating with legal, finance, and product teams on diligence, terms review, and integration planning.

  • Building the operating infrastructure of the corporate development function: screening criteria, diligence templates, memo formats, and pipeline reporting.

Required Skills:

  • 3-6 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, venture capital, startups, or corporate development.

  • Structured thinking and clear written communication. You can take a complex, ambiguous opportunity and produce a concise memo that a non-specialist can act on.

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams with minimal oversight, balancing thoroughness with speed.

  • Fluency with AI tools for research, analysis, and document production. The Executive Office is already a strong adopter of AI across these workflows, so you will be joining a team that actively invests in these capabilities.

  • Ability to build domain knowledge quickly in a complex, regulated financial services environment. You will need to develop an understanding of pre-IPO secondary markets and institutional customer behavior, and stay current on competitive and market developments that inform Hiive's strategic decisions.

  • Comfort operating close to senior leadership in a fast-moving environment. You will regularly interact with the CEO and executive team, and be required to move confidently on emerging opportunities where the full picture is still developing.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience at a top-tier management consulting firm or an elite investment bank.

  • Familiarity with financial services, capital markets, or fintech business models. Direct experience in private markets, venture capital, or alternative investments is a strong plus.

  • Experience evaluating M&A targets or conducting due diligence in a corporate development or private equity context.

  • Understanding of how technology products are built and commercialized. You do not need to be technical, but you should be able to assess build-vs-buy decisions alongside product and engineering teams.

  • An existing interest in or exposure to the venture capital ecosystem, private markets, or the broader startup and growth-stage technology landscape.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks:

  • Highly competitive salary commensurate with experience and contribution.

  • Opportunity to participate in ownership of a rapidly growing company through our employee stock option plan.

  • Comprehensive 100% employer-paid health and dental premiums, a health and personal spending account.

  • If you are based in Vancouver, enjoy a dedicated desk in our Vancouver, BC HQ, in the heart of downtown, with a fridge stocked with healthy snacks and drinks, an onsite gym, and a gorgeous rooftop amenity.

  • Enjoy a $20-per-day commuter benefit for every day you work in our Vancouver HQ.

  • An engaging social calendar, including bi-weekly catered lunches, bi-weekly “Friday bar,” team workouts, annual summer party, and holiday party, two “onsite” all-team retreats each year, semi-annual team-building events, and Hiive Women’s Network events.

  • Significant opportunities for growth into team leadership and management roles.

  • Entrepreneurial culture and a small and dynamic team.

  • Sponsorship, immigration, and relocation for exceptional candidates.

Hiive is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed.
