Job Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting month-end close activities and monthly and quarterly financial reporting. This role involves completing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis, as well as supporting internal and external audits. The Senior Accountant will also respond to ad hoc management requests, contribute to special projects and departmental initiatives, and assist in training and developing other members of the accounting team.

 

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and related analyses.
  • Perform financial reporting and analysis of monthly and quarterly results.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and respond to management inquiries.
  • Participate in process improvement projects and departmental initiatives.
  • Prepare audit schedules and liaise with internal and external auditors.
  • Assist with documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support, mentor, and train other members of the accounting team.

 

Qualifications

  • University Degree.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience (public accounting, general accounting, consolidations, or financial reporting).
  • 5+ years of Strong understanding of IFRS and/or GAAP.
  • 5+ years of Experience with fixed assets accounting.
  • SAP experience required.
  • 5 years of Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
  • Ability to lead special projects involving the general ledger when required.
  • 5 years of Exposure to standardization and simplification of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities
  • CPA designation or MBA required.

 

 

Additional Information

Terms of employment - Full-time, permanent

Language of work - English

Wage range: $91,000 - $108,000 CAD

Benefits package offered including vacation days:

  • Eligible for an annual bonus
  • Vacation days: 15 days/calendar year
  • Personal days: 9 days
  • Life insurance 2 x annual salary
  • AD&D insurance 2 x annual salary
  • Short-Term Disability: payable at 67% of the employee’s earnings, up to 25 weeks or 26 weeks if hospitalized from day one
  • Long-Term Disability: payable at 66.67%
