The Senior Accountant will oversee and execute the daily operations of the accounting department. This role involves preparing financial statements, analyzing financial data, overseeing compliance with accounting standards, and supporting audits. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong critical thinking and analytical skills and excellent knowledge of accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IFRS standards. Assist in analyzing technical accounting topics, as required.
- General Ledger Management: Oversee the preparation and maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring that all entries are accurate and complete.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other balance sheet accounts on a regular basis. Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Month-End/Year-End Close: Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring the timely completion of all accounting entries and adjustments.
- Forecasting and Analysis: Assist in the preparation of periodic forecasts by providing detailed financial analysis to support management decision-making. Furthermore, assist in preparing management reports, looking at profitability by various sectors, customers, divisions, etc.
- Compliance & Audits: Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, including tax and audit requirements. Coordinate and liaise with both internal and external auditors during audits.
- Internal Controls: Implement and enforce internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Tax Preparation: Assist in the preparation of tax working papers, to support sales tax, income tax, and other required filings, ensuring timely submission.
- Team Leadership and Training: Provide leadership and mentoring to junior accountants and other team members, ensuring proper training and development.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or equivalent professional certification is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant financial reporting experience, with at least 2 years in an accounting firm.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics D365, QuickBooks, SAP).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, financial regulations, and tax laws.
- Expertise in analyzing complex financial data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to improve financial processes and performance.
- Ability to evaluate financial information, identify issues, and propose logical, effective solutions.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, v-lookups, and macros.

Pay Rate: $70,000 - $90,000 (DOE)
