Job Summary:

The Analyst, Sanctions Compliance plays a key role in supporting Central 1's AML/ATF and sanctions compliance programs. Working closely with the AML/ATF Team Lead, this position helps ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risk, and deliver exceptional service to internal stakeholders.
 

In this role, you'll support sanctions screening, compliance monitoring, and risk management activities related to Central 1's payment and wire transfer programs. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality.
 

As part of the AML Services team, you'll collaborate across the organization to help maintain an effective compliance framework while supporting Central 1's strategic growth initiatives.

 

What you'll be doing:

 

  • Analyze information relating to identified sanctions compliance situations (e.g., alerts) and identify high-risk situations that require escalation for a more in-depth investigation.  

  • Support other investigational activities or measures undertaken by AML Services, including the investigation and analysis of information relating to AML/ATF situations (e.g., alerts). 

  • Maintain a working level of awareness of all current, relevant AML/ATF and sanctions laws/regulations; plus, industry best practices. 

  • Support the 3 Lines of Defense (“LOD”) model in the execution of internal work activities. 

  • Collaborate with and support the team focused on delivering an effective/efficient internal wires screening program, including Enhanced Due Diligence activities, that supports Central 1’s operations and strategies. 

  • Support the maintenance of the wires screening program by identifying enhancements to be more effective and/or efficient. 

  • Support work to ensure regulatory and other risks are managed by following procedures. 

  • Maintain accurate detailed records as required by procedures. 

  • Ensure a positive work environment and awareness by all staff of company goals and objectives to maintain an environment oriented towards collaboration, trust, open communication, creative thinking and cohesive team effort. 

  • Support change management initiatives. 

 

What you'll have:

  • University degree, or a college diploma; plus, as an asset, at least two years’ working experience in a field such as criminology, law, money laundering/fraud investigation. 

  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or similar designation is an asset. 

  • Relevant financial crimes experience, preferrable relating to AML/ATF and/or sanctions compliance is an asset. 

  • Working knowledge of sanctions legislation is an asset. 

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze sanctions related alerts is an asset. 

  • Working knowledge and understanding of analysis principles. 

  • Sound ability to make sound judgements based on analysis. 

  • Experience and/or knowledge in the use of technology-based AML/ATF monitoring and/or sanctions screening software solutions is an asset. 

  • Strong skills on Microsoft Office applications that includes but not limited to Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. 

  • Highly collaborative. 

  • Competent in communicating effectively both orally and in writing with team members. 

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy. 

  • High capability of working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. 

  • High ability to provide excellent service to clients. 

  • Strong ability to engage team leaders when needed. 

  • Strong ability to work independently. 

  • Excellent team player, including capable of learning and sharing knowledge with team members. 

  • Strong organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines. 

  • Solid ability to multitask and handle conflicting priorities simultaneously. 

 

Salary range: $50,000-$56,000

The salary range  represents the job rate determined for the successful candidate who is fully competent in the role. The actual salary will vary depending on market conditions and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
