Fresh Start Foods is currently hiring a full time Sales Manager who is eager to work in a fast paced team oriented work environment in our Richmond, BC location. The Sales Manager provides development opportunities. Oversee and provide direction to enhance relationships and growth opportunities with our GFS Sales Team. Reports, analyzes and communicates data regarding the achievement of goals.  Oversees and monitors training activities for direct reports and participates in Fresh Start Foods and GFS related activities.

Position: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: $100,000-125,000 per year, plus performance bonus

Main Responsibilities:

  • Learn and maintain key relationships with divisional and national GFS personnel.

  • Responsible for developing and executing a strategic growth plan to drive significant market share expansion and meet the evolving needs of the Gordon Food Service produce divisions.

  • Provide development opportunities and mentoring to GFS Sales Representatives and develop succession plans for area management.  Collaborates with GFS Sales Representatives to identify goals and objectives, provide regular and candid feedback through evaluations or coaching sessions.

  • Oversee development of business plans for territory and large customers.  Assist with new account development and visit key customers to build relationships and to assist with the resolution of serious customer concerns.  Collaborate with operation teams to meet customer service expectations.

  • Review and analyze weekly and monthly reports to improve sales, margin, manage accounts receivable, develop staff, and to identify problems and solutions.  Develop and submit periodic reports on area progress, and issues to direct supervisor.

  • Conduct reviews of performance to plan and modify or realign where necessary to achieve plan.  Ensures that GFS Sales Representative skills meet requirements by providing and monitoring application effectiveness of training.  Provide ongoing sales training.

  • Maintains visibility with key customers. Participates in, and strategizes the best value, for food shows, regional customer events, and customer trips to divisions. 

  • Oversee the development of targets for GFS Sales Representatives and collaborate with GFS to develop and meet goals that support Fresh Start Foods’ goals and visions including sales, margin, new business and others as appropriate. Regularly review goal results.

  • Holds responsibility for a select group of key accounts and/or regions, ensuring strong relationships and performance.

  • Maintain industry knowledge through industry magazines and local culinary organizations.

  • Demonstrate and deliver understanding of Foodservice Industry and operations.

  • Understand areas of customer focus, including Sales Building, Staffing, Profitability, and Compliance.

  • Collaborates as a member of the senior leadership team, contributing effectively to strategic discussions and decision-making.

  • Interviews, hire, train, and retain sales staff.  Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department.  Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School / Equivalent required.

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Sales or Marketing preferred.

  • Must have 4-6 years of sales experience, with at least 2 years of experience leading a sales team.

  • Must be customer-centric and understand the GFS foodservice industry.

  • Must have good written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, challenging environment

  • Must be a strategic thinker in order to build relationships, network, and link resources to plan and execute business practices and achieve business goals.
