We are an innovative, Vancouver-based startup at the forefront of robotics, AI, and machine vision technologies. Backed by VC funding and we’ve been recognized with the 2025 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Leadership Award, the AAM Supplier Excellence Innovation Award, and the 2024 BC Tech “Company of the Year – Growth”, we are on a mission to redefine the future of AI-driven robotic vision systems.  Apera AI helps manufacturers make their factories more flexible and productive. Robots enhanced with Apera’s software have 4D Vision – the ability to see and handle objects with human-like capability. Challenging applications such as bin picking, sorting, packaging, and assembly are now open to fast, precise, and reliable automation. Apera is led by an experienced team from high-growth companies focused on robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing.

Let’s End Robot Blindness. Together.

Robots can do amazing things, if they can see. Apera AI builds breakthrough 4D Vision™ systems that give robots the clarity to handle complex, real-world tasks. But technology alone doesn’t make transformation happen - people do. That’s where you come in.

We’re hiring a Robotic Solutions Engineer (RSE) to bridge the gap between AI vision software and the hardest real-world automation applications; someone who thrives on solving tough technical problems and seeing their work come alive in motion.

This is a hands-on engineering role - not theory. You’ll design robotic vision solutions, troubleshoot complex integrations, and work with our field team to help robots see, learn, and perform at scale.

What You’ll Actually Do

  • Consult and guide: Provide expert advice to field engineers and users, from proof-of-concept to full production.
  • Innovate and improve: Identify recurring challenges and lead long-term improvement projects that reduce setup time, increase uptime, or enhance reliability.
  • Solve and stabilize: Diagnose and resolve the most complex issues found in the field using structured troubleshooting, simulation, and AI-assisted diagnostics.
  • Collaborate and create: Partner with Product and Engineering teams to turn insights into product improvements that scale globally.
  • Document and enable: Write clear, accessible technical guides and internal documentation that make every future deployment faster and smarter.
  • Learn and mentor: Share best practices and lessons learned with teammates through demos, briefings, and technical enablement sessions.

Why This Is a Career Move (Not Just a Job)

This role is a launchpad for anyone who wants to grow at the intersection of robotics, AI vision, and applied problem-solving. You’ll work across disciplines including robot integration, calibration, and simulation.

If you’ve ever wanted a career that blends hands-on engineering, innovation, and direct customer impact, this is it.

Here’s what makes this role special:

  • You’ll be at the forefront of innovation. Your work connects our AI vision technology directly to the machines that power modern manufacturing.
  • You’ll grow across disciplines. Robotics, AI, computer vision, mechanical design, automation - you’ll gain rare, hands-on experience in all of them.
  • You’ll see your impact instantly. Every project you complete improves accuracy, speed, and reliability for real manufacturers.
  • You’ll help shape our products. Your feedback and data from the field will drive Apera’s roadmap and innovation cycles.

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Purpose with impact: Your work directly transforms how factories operate - from manual processes to intelligent automation.
  • Freedom to explore: Every challenge is unique. You’ll have the autonomy to experiment, iterate, and engineer solutions that work.
  • Growth at the intersection: You’ll develop a hybrid skillset spanning robotics, vision, and applied AI — skills that define the future of automation.
  • A culture that builds: We move fast, learn fast, and support each other - combining startup agility with engineering rigor.

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in robotics, automation, or vision system integration.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in mechanical, mechatronics, eletrical, or systems engineering
  • Comfort with robot programming and simulation (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, UR, Yaskawa, or similar).
  • Ability to troubleshoot system-level issues involving software and hardware.
  • Proficiency with mechanical design for simulation and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with customers and multidisciplinary teams.

Bonus points: Experience with AI-driven vision systems or interest in applying ML insights to automation.

Why Apera?

  • Purpose with impact: You’re not building for someday. You’re deploying systems that are improving production right now.
  • Compensation: Competitive salary in the range of $100,000–$130,000 CAD, plus stock options and comprehensive benefits.
  • Equity for every employee — because we all build Apera together
  • Autonomy with support: You’ll get room to lead — and the tools and mentorship to succeed.
  • Growth at the edge: Gain exposure to AI, vision, and advanced automation — all in one role.

At Apera AI, you’ll help bring intelligent robots into production and shape the future of automation.
