The Risk Analyst will be an integral member of the Risk Management team, which handles Essex’s insurance policies, assuring timely renewal of existing policies and completion of any required modifications or new coverages.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Policy Administration:

  • Update and maintain insurance tracker with expiration dates, coverage type, and broker information.

  • Manage insurance tracker for structured finance portfolio and work with various real estate owners to assure compliance with Essex’s insurance requirements.

  • Upload and organize documents such as applications, binders and policies to SharePoint.

  • Review invoices for accuracy before processing.

  • Assist with policy renewals.

Budget Management:

  • Lead Company’s insurance budget for entire asset portfolio.

  • Work with brokers to assess the current market environment and gather cost estimates.

  • Provide cost and budget variance analysis.

  • Allocate insurance premiums across all properties.

Other Duties:

  • Manage certificate requests from lenders and other vendors.

  • Maintain property risk profile database.

  • Manage structured finance insurance database.

  • Coordinate insurance company inspections with on-site teams.

  • Manage multiple calendars and schedule and support meetings.

  • Assist with presentation materials which require strong PowerPoint and Excel skills.

  • Search, consolidate historical data, organize, and upload to SharePoint.

  • New vendor set up.

  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in an insurance brokerage or insurance carrier environment.

  • Extremely strong organizational, project and time management skills; detail oriented.

  • Demonstrates excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills are required and should include Microsoft Word, Excel, Acrobat, SharePoint and PowerPoint. Power BI is a plus.

  • Strong team player and collaborator

  • Insurance certifications. Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) preferred.

WHAT THE JOB REQUIRES:

  • Work is primarily conducted in an office setting. Requires sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods. Involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.

  • Operates in a fast-paced work setting. Requires the ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changing priorities. May involve tight deadlines and high-energy work situations.

  • Requires the ability to work Monday through Friday. Entails in-person office requirements for a minimum of 3 days per week consistent with the Company’s hybrid policy, located at Essex's corporate offices in Irvine, Woodland Hills, San Mateo, and Bellevue.

  • Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Minimal physical effort in the day-to-day tasks.

  • Minimal travel may be required for occasional meetings, training, or conferences.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems and regularly utilize independent judgement in matters of significance, including but not limited to analyzing the insurance budget, with minimal oversight.

  • Ability to interpret and explain information to colleagues across Essex who are not familiar with the job area.

  • Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Ability to identify and create value as needed. Decisions have an impact on the results of the job function, including insurance budgets.

The pay range for this position is $88,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year. New hires generally start between $88,000.00 - $106,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.

This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
