Sedgman is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer, with hands-on experience managing the technical aspects of mining projects, from concept to completion ranging from feasibility studies, front end loading (FEL), to detailed engineering, project delivery and construction. This person will be based out of our Vancouver office with the expectation to travel to site on occasion.
The Project Engineer works on a diverse array of projects across the Mineral Processing Industry. They will be involved in coordinating project activities, on site engineering and procurement functions to ensure the project is completed safely, meets design criteria, in specification, on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities include:
Coordinate and administer project activities in accordance with approved plans, designs and specifications.
Interpret engineering designs and support effective implementation for the duration of the project.
Coordinate engineering deliverables and manage interfaces between design, procurement and construction teams.
Assist with the development, maintenance and tracking of project schedules.
Monitor project progress and report on performance against programme, cost and scope.
Provide cost control and forecasting support for nominated cost codes and contract packages.
Arrange, administer and manage supply and works contracts in line with project requirements.
Ensure timely issue and compliance of contracts and purchase orders with head contract and internal procedures.
Manage scope variations, ensuring approvals, documentation and cost impacts are controlled.
Coordinate and manage subcontractors to ensure safe, compliant and timely delivery of works.
Review and progress vendor and subcontractor documentation to prevent delays.
Raise, track and close out technical queries with design teams and stakeholders.
Maintain accurate and compliant project documentation, records and filing systems.
Participate in and/or chair site/project meetings and generate meeting minutes.
Participate in and/or drive layout review meeting with designers and other project stakeholders to ensure layout objectives are achieved
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What are we looking for? Qualifications:
Bachelor of Engineering (Process, Chemical, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical or Civil)
5-7 years’ of relevant experience in project delivery, engineering, project study delivery, and/or site operations/support (in mining & mineral processing)
2 years of experience working on a mine site in a project/construction environment
Experience in cost control, planning, JDE (or similar cost management systems) and design coordination
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Previous experience with large (mining) clients.
Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities
Dedicated team player; will be self-motivated, quick to deliver on projects
Will have their EGBC P.Eng. Certification; an asset if possess other engineering certifications
Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship

Salary Range: $130,000 - $180,000
The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
