THE TEAM 

The mission of the Global Manufacturing team is to deliver consistency & precision in the fit and construction of every style fulfilling the creative vision.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a member of the Technical Development team, you will be part of the team responsible for delivering on the Creative Design vision and Aritzia’s customer expectations through the consistency & precision of fit, construction & quality of our product. As the Associate, Technical Developer, you will ensure we deliver Everyday Luxury through your manufacturing knowledge and proactive and collaborative communications with cross-functional teams and vendors. THE ROLE

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

To ensure clear & comprehensive instructions, aligned to our standards, that enable accurate sample development for every style:

  • Materials Suitability – Partner cross-functionally with Fabric and/or Trims to understand and manage fabric fit for purpose and suitability

  • Technical/Flat Illustration Support the team to reference Technical Design’s illustration of a style for design details, construction and proportions to align technical specifications to design intent

  • Detail Illustration – Support the team to sketch garment detail illustrations, informative of technical specifications to support the accurate construction of a style

  • Bill of Materials – Support the team to contribute to the Bill of Materials for Technical Development owned components and validate its overall completeness and accuracy, in partnership with Technical Design

  • Size & Fit Specifications – Support the team to define the fit specifications that outline the intended shape, proportions and sizing of a style to achieve a consistent and accurate fit across sizes

  • Construction Specifications Support the team to define the construction requirements, leveraging Aritzia’s construction standards to ensure alignment

FIT SAMPLES

To validate that the physical sample aligns with our specifications & creative vision

  • Sourcing – Partner with Sourcing to assess a new FG Supplier’s execution of samples to evaluate their construction execution and capabilities against Aritzia’s high quality standards

  • Mock-Up Support the team to explore and refine the execution of new construction techniques, fits, trims, and/or details and finishes on a specific style for current season development  

  • 3D Prototype – Support the team to request and refine 3D prototype samples to assess a garment’s fit and construction, and gain cross-functional alignment on style intent

  • Prototype Support the team to request and refine prototype samples to approve a garment’s measurements, fit, construction, and execution before proceeding with purchase order

  • Pre-Production Support the team to request and validate that the measurements, fit, construction, and execution requirements are met before proceeding to bulk production 

  • Top-of-Production Support the team to request and validate that the top-of-production samples meet all requirements for records

  • Wear Test Support the team to gather user feedback from the wear test program to validate each styles size, fit, fabric, and construction

  • Size Set – Support the team to request and validate multiple sizes of each style, ensuring alignment with Aritzia’s requirements and grading standards

TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT

To effectively manage and optimize the day-to-day operations of technical development  

  • Fit Block & Patterns Library Support the team to maintain Aritzia’s best-in-class library of fit blocks and patterns used in style development

  • Samples Library – Partner with Samples to ensure effective access, facilitation, and presentation of samples to service Aritzia’s needs

  • Fittings Support the team to execute fittings in accordance with Aritzia’s best practices and approach

  • Fit ModelsSupport the team to select, staff and coach fit models appropriately, ensuring accurate corporate measurements

  • Dress Form / 3D Avatar – Support the team to effectively communicate with internal and external suppliers to ensure their understanding of Aritzia’s physical dress form dimensions 

  • Supplies – Use, manage and maintain technical development workspace supplies to deliver best-in-class results

  • Component Suppliers Support the team to effectively source, manage, and onboard component suppliers, to address the specific needs of the Technical Development department 

Throughout the course of employment, additional duties and responsibilities may be amended as required.

THE COMPENSATION  

At Aritzia, we provide market-leading compensation packages designed to reward impact through our pay-for-performance philosophy.  
 
The range for roles at this level is $50,000 - $150,000 per year. Total compensation may include base, bonus and/or equity depending on the role, which has the potential to be greater than this range.
