This take-charge individual will be the Procurement liaison between the Chemical Technology business of ChampionX Canada and the centralized procurement function. The successful candidate will be recognized as a procurement expert and will collaborate with key regional stakeholders (Marketing, Sales, RD&E, Finance, Supply Chain) and suppliers to identify cost saving opportunities, ensure security of supply, jointly with Finance develop financial plans and tools that show the impact of raw material price increases and decreases and identify process improvement opportunities.

What Will You Do:

  • Align with Central Procurement Team to communicate strategies, results, and metrics to Canadian Commercial, Marketing, Research, Development and Engineering & Leadership teams as required

  • Work with Local Supply Chain including Materials Management & Planning Team and Global Category Management Team to ensure business needs are met

  • Accountable for Regional target setting in alignment with Global Procurement goals

  • Stay abreast of global chemical market supply & demand dynamics affecting key raw materials. Provides guidance and recommendations to business units to support margin and top line growth

  • Set goals and develop action plans for continuous improvement of purchasing process and performance

  • Develop/strengthen local procurement process and policies including vendor bidding and assessment, PO placement and tracking, vendor evaluation etc. in alignment with Global / Regional guidelines

  • Work with Canadian Research, Development and Engineering and Commercial & Marketing Teams to ensure timely qualification of alternative suppliers and manufacturers

  • Advocate for ChampionX Canada’s needs while ensuring alignment with Central Procurement strategies

  • Understand the intricate needs of the Canadian Oil & Gas market, particularly Oilsands & other Unconventional, Conventional & Offshore.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with strategic initiatives including cost reduction, continuous improvement of total cost of ownership, best practices, environmental targets, and safety

  • Works with stakeholders and vendors to ensure required materials & services are procured and maintained to optimize total cost of ownership

  • Establish and manage reporting and business requirements with ChampionX suppliers.

  • This role does not have any direct reports.

Position Details

  • Candidate must reside in Calgary, AB or surrounding areas.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Finance or related field

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in purchasing management field.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in project management.

  • Proven track record working between Global and Regional Procurement organizations

  • Desire and ability to work closely and influentially with members of senior regional leadership teams at Country / Cluster and Regional / Global level.

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Business or Finance. MBA desired

  • Experience working at a multi-national company is preferred

  • Experience in the chemical/petrochemicals industry

  • Demonstrated history of leadership, teamwork, and project management skills

  • Demonstrated competitive drive and strong orientation for results and achievement

  • Demonstrated skills in clear communication and presentation

  • Demonstrated professionalism and strong presence in interactions with others
