Job Description:

Microchip offers a comprehensive portfolio of semiconductor and system solutions for data center, communications, aerospace and defense, and industrial markets. Microchip’s Data Center Solutions Business Unit (DCS) offers industry leading performance, reliability, and security for Smart Storage Controllers, RAID Controllers, SAS/SATA IO Controllers, SAS Expanders, PCIe Switches, and NVME Controllers.

As an ASIC development engineer in the Microchip Data Center Solutions group, you will get hands-on experience developing our next generation of storage and memory controller SOC products.  This will involve taking a design from initial concept to production form. Throughout you will work beside experienced engineers and be exposed to Microchip’s Best-In-Class engineering practices. Working side-by-side with some of the brightest minds and most innovative people in the industry, you won't just fill a position, you will be given an opportunity to work on a team where your contributions matter. As a ASIC Development Engineer, you will be responsible for design, verification, emulation, and/or validation of digital integrated circuits at the block level, top level, and/or solution level.  You will be challenged and encouraged to discover the power of innovation. Job Responsibilities

As a ASIC Engineer in this group you will be responsible for design and / or verification of digital integrated circuits at the block level, subsystem level or top level of a device. Responsibilities could include contributing to the investigation of a device feature set, designing, coding, and / or verifying device features, performing development activities such as Formal Verification, Design for Testability and Static Timing Analysis.

Job responsibilities include the following:

  • Pre-silicon design and verification

  • Learning and dynamically applying knowledge of the SoC, protocols and standards

  • Learning and applying various design flow (CAD) tools for taking the design from RTL to the netlist ready for tape out

  • Learning the ECO flow, assisting in Gate level simulations

  • Supporting pre-silicon Emulation and post-silicon validation

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering

  • Strong programming/scripting skills, i.e., C++, Python

  • Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal), and documentation skills

  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills

  • Experience with Verilog and/or VHDL is an asset

  • Experience with the ASIC design and/or verification flow is an asset

  • Experience with protocols and interfaces is an asset (PCIe, NVME, SAS)

  • Previous co-op experience is an asset

We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments. Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position is $86,000-$186,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
