Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the Head of Asset Management Operations, the Portfolio Performance Analyst plays a critical role in supporting Nicola Wealth’s investment platform through advanced fund performance measurement, attribution analysis, and reporting. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of fund performance data, supports the design and maintenance of analytics and reporting frameworks, and serves as a key resource for internal stakeholders across Asset Management, Private Wealth, and Finance.  

 This is a hybrid role based in our Toronto or Vancouver offices.   

Core Responsibilities:
  • Design, enhance, and maintain performance and fund analytics reporting, ensuring outputs are clear, reliable, and aligned with business needs.    
  • Produce internal and external reporting packages and respond to adhoc analytics requests from stakeholders.    
  • Conduct and validate fund performance calculations and attribution analyses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards such as GIPS and CRM2.   
  • Investigate and reconcile performance-related discrepancies using multiple data sources and systems.   
  • Perform daily trade reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of failed trades.    
  • Validate datasets used for downstream reporting and ensure data integrity across systems and workflows.   
  • Maintain documentation for performance processes, methodologies, and data sources to support consistency and audit readiness.   
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements, leveraging advanced VBA/Excel, SQL, and BI tools.    
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Commerce or related discipline.    
  • Advanced degree in a related discipline is an asset.  
  • 2+ years of experience in performance measurement, financial analytics, fund reporting, or a related asset management role.   
  • Advanced proficiency in VBA (assessment may be required), Excel, and strong experience with SQL.    
  • Experience with performance measurement methodologies and attribution models.    
  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, SSRS, Crystal Reports, or similar.    
  • Experience working with SimCorp, Morningstar Direct or similar performance platforms an asset.    
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate analytical findings into actionable insight.   
  • Close attention to detail, strong time management skills, and ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast paced environment.   
  • CFA or CIPM designation or candidacy considered an asset.   
Compensation & Benefits Package:

This position comes with a competitive base salary hiring range of $70,000 - $90,000, dependent on experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity.
