About MGT Insurance

MGT is the first AI-driven, neo-insurer focused on evolving commercial P&C insurance for the brokers and small business owners. By combining the expertise of industry veterans with state-of-the-art technology, we are ushering in the next evolution of commercial insurance and working to move the industry forward through the use of modern technology, better processes, and a rock-star team. We seek visionary leaders who thrive in dynamic, entrepreneurial settings, and excel in autonomous roles.

About the Role

MGT is in a period of hyper scale and our People are the fuel that supports that growth.  We’re seeking an experienced People hire who will build the human resources function and lead MGT’s people strategy as we enter this next chapter of growth.

As the first People hire, this leader is a pioneer and jack of all trades, wearing many hats within the People space.  They will own the employee experience – from onboarding to performance management, culture building, and employee relations – and will be responsible for ensuring MGT continues to foster a high-performing, inclusive, and engaged culture.  The ideal candidate can deftly shift between strategic planning and tactical execution, unafraid to roll-up their sleeves and get things while also being able to see around the corner as the company grows.

What you'll do

  • Partner with the leadership team to define and implement a comprehensive people strategy that supports our growth, mission, and values.
  • Champion initiatives that enhance the employee experience and strengthen our company culture
  • Oversee benefits administration and performance management
  • Serve as a trusted business partner on HR-related issues including compliance
  • Identify and execute training needs and develop programs

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources / People Operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role
  • Proven experience developing and implementing People strategies in a fast-paced, high-growth, startup, tech environment
  • Knowledge across all People disciplines, including, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and compliance
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and strong relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using People metrics and analytics

Nice To Have

  • Experience as the first People team hire
  • Experience scaling the People function from 50 to 100
  • Experience with talent acquisition and compensation / total rewards

Location

Hybrid in the Bay Area, CA

Compensation

$165,000 - $215,000 base salary + bonus + equity (commensurate with experience)
