As an Operations Manager, you'll spend the majority of your time supporting field operations, mentoring leaders, building client partnerships, and ensuring operational excellence across a diverse portfolio. Reporting to the District Manager (or Regional Operations Director), the Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for overseeing portfolios for a specific region to ensure efficiency and effectiveness and execute the strategic vision of the Senior Leadership Team. Operations Managers foster long term relationships by delivering operational excellence to meet client and customer needs. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and deadline driven environment. The OM also provides direction and expertise to the region by promoting corporate strategies and best practices aligned with our Vision and Values.

WHAT IS THE ROLE?

This role holds expansive responsibilities for the performance of multiple contracts across their district. 

The key areas they are responsible for include:

  • Promote the company values and be a leader in health and safety.
  • Engagement with all departments in region with a focus on operational excellence.
  • Strong field presence, auditing and reporting on the current state of operations.
  • Successful interactions with support functions to ensure their region is compliant with corporate vision and priorities.
  • Community relations with a focus on indigenous relations.
  • Liaise with head office and support bi-lingual engagement.

Day-to-day the OM will perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Mentor and train all direct reports
  • Plans, oversees and operationalizes the business plan in the region
  • Identification, sell and implement new business opportunities in key markets to meet sales target in accordance with the corporate sales model
  • Contribute to and execute plans and budgets to meet financial targets
  • With support of the District Manager, facilitates, manages, and builds client relationships
  • Manage a multiple field leadership team to ensure compliance with proper procedures and guidelines.
  • Strengthen operational processes to build highly efficient and effective operations.
  • Liaise with District Manager, Regional Operations Director and other OM’s and ensure the consistent implementation of strategic initiatives to all field operation groups.
  • Provide leadership to the field operations team ensuring effective performance management and continued development.
  • Support the implementation of operational improvements in the areas of safety, quality, customer service, finance, and employee performance.
  • Communicate and share company standards and available resources that assist facility operations.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities and determine root causes in operating standards and overall guest satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with other department leaders to find solutions to problems.
  • Identify opportunities and best practices to improve profitability of locations.   
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights, health and safety, and WHMIS within all regions.
  • Assist in effectively and efficiently managing the development of the Hospitality Operations team to promote high quality customer service and satisfaction.
  • Other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel throughout northern Manitoba is required.  Work will be 75% + based in the field supporting active operations. 
  • Trained, as necessary, in required safety protocols.

 

Qualifications

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and think outside the box.
  • Minimum of 4 years of Remote Camp Operations (or Comparable) experience.
  • Post-Secondary Education in Management, Hospitality, Culinary Management or Business-related degree is considered an asset.
  • Familiar with current industry technology
  • Demonstrated market awareness, branding, innovation to create competitive advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to attracts, develop, and retain employees
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated financial management skills

Competencies:

  • Experience in multi-unit management, hospitality industry or hotel industry considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to excel in a fast paced, highly challenging and change oriented environment.
  • Superior critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership and strong people management skills.
  • Results orientation/operational excellence.
  • Holding self and others accountable.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Background Check
  • Must be able to successfully pass Drug & Alcohol tests

 

Additional Information

Work schedule and remuneration: 

Operations Managers work on a rotational schedule of 2 weeks on/1 week off, which may change on occasion due to operations needs. Site locations are in remote settings, requiring either air travel to site, or via ground on our shuttle. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays.
