Backend Engineer (Node.js)

We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer (Node.js) to join us here at Sign In Solutions. As an engineer, you will work closely with an innovative team to design and maintain scalable applications and services hosted in the cloud, with a strong emphasis on seamless integration with other services hosted locally or in the cloud. You will play a key role in designing scalable systems, ensuring reliability, and building robust integrations that power our business operations.

This is a hybrid role ( 3x/week in the office) based in Vancouver, BC.

Skills:

• 5+ years of proven experience with Node.js + Express.js or NestJS
• Familiarity with modern tech stacks including Bun, ElysiaJS, and Drizzle;
• Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs
• Strong background in integrating applications with APIs, third-party services, and on-premises systems
• Proficiency in TypeScript for backend development
• Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest)
• Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
• Knowledge of hybrid cloud environments or on-premises service deployments is nice to have

What You Will Be Doing:

• Develop and maintain backend systems and APIs using Node.js with the BED stack (Bun, ElysiaJS and Drizzle ORM)
• Design and implement secure, efficient integrations with third-party services, on-premises systems, and other cloud-hosted solutions
• Build and manage APIs for communication between applications and services
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to deploy, monitor, and maintain cloud-based applications and services
• Troubleshoot and debug integration issues across multiple services and environments
• Document technical designs, processes, and updates comprehensively
• Have ownership and responsibility of the code and the product
• Research new technology and design patterns in collaboration with fellow engineers propose changes that bring both short term and long term benefits
