Job Summary
The MFRE Graphic Designer is a part-time term position, responsible for designing and preparing graphics to support the marketing and promotion of the Master of Food and Resource Economics (MFRE) Graduate Program and the Micro-Certificate in Environmental Metrics for Sustainability Reporting.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Academic Director, MFRE and works closely with MFRE staff.
Work Performed
Provides overall graphic design work for the MFRE program including creative direction (thumbnails, layout, navigation mapping) and options for special projects, refines design, produces media elements (illustration, photography), and implements the final design in its medium (prepress, print co-ordination and art direction).

·       LinkedIn Graphics - develops twice weekly LinkedIn post graphics to align with program and micro-certificate branding promotions.

·       Posters - creates professional poster designs for program recruitment and events.

·       Class Visit Presentations PPT and Videos - designs visually engaging PowerPoint slide templates and graphics for class visits in Sauder and Economics as well as external Universities.

·       Industry Insight Series Posters (Paper and Digital) - produces supplementary poster graphics for recruitment and program visibility.

·       Newsletters - designs graphic elements and layouts for up to 6 newsletters annually.

·       Performs other duties as required.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Inappropriate or ineffectual design would result in poor “messaging” and promotion in recruitment and communication vehicles that could result in loss of students, low recruitment and negatively impact the brand, profile and reputation of the Program and University. 
Supervision Received
Works independently and reports to Academic Director, MFRE who provides general guidance on all projects as necessary.  May be asked to work collaboratively with other projects and programs based on the nature of the task.

Minimum Qualifications
Three year Graphic Design program. Minimum of two years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

·       University degree in a relevant discipline preferred.

·       Demonstrated experience in print design, art direction, project management and web design.

·       Experience in design for print including prepress and printer co-ordination required.

·       Experience in marketing, communications and branding an asset.

·       Excellent knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Powerpoint.  Basic knowledge of Dreamweaver, Director, and Flash. 

·       Expertise using both Mac and Windows.

·       Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, training, project management and organizational skills. 

·       Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
