Manager, Software Engineering

We are seeking an exceptional Manager, Software Engineering to lead our NIOS Platform team in Burnaby, Canada, reporting to the Director, Software Engineering. This pivotal role blends hands-on technical leadership, people management, and strategic vision to drive the development and maintenance of the NIOS DDI platform. You will guide a team of talented engineers in building robust applications and innovative features that power Infoblox’s core DDI solutions.

As the leader of this team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality features, ensuring platform stability, and addressing customer issues with precision and urgency. Your role will involve fostering collaboration, mentoring engineers, and aligning technical priorities with business objectives. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact by shaping the future of NIOS and driving excellence across our platform.

Be a Contributor — What You’ll Do

  • Provide technical direction and prioritization to a team of developers and leads.
  • Design and develop applications and features for NIOS DDI platform.  
  • Works closely with teams to maintain customer satisfaction, demonstrating commitment through timely support and on-call readiness.  
  • Deliver high-quality software solutions from concept to release
  • Drive all phases of development, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, and release
  • Mentor and grow junior engineers while monitoring daily tasks and initiatives
  • Manage customer issues, escalations, and SLA commitments
  • Partner with cross-functional Product and Engineering and Customer support teams
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices
  • Work with technologies including Linux, C and Python. Golang, CubeJS, with Angular as a good-to-have skill.
  • Manage development and maintenance of X86 or ARM based appliances.  

Be Prepared — What You Bring

  • 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering
  • Strong programming skills in at least one of the following: Linux, C, Python and  Java
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of DNS, DHCP, Linux internals, and kernel networking stacks.
  • Hands-on experience with high availability and in-service software upgrade  
  • Create detailed design documents and comprehensive test plans
  • 4-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required 

Be Successful — Your Path

First 90 Days: In your first 90 days, immerse yourself in Infoblox’s culture and values while building strong relationships through Blox Buddies. Map critical systems and workflows, earn trust with your team and stakeholders, and set clear short- and long-term goals. 

Six Months: Strengthen your technical foundation by mastering NIOS and vNIOS platforms. Listen, learn, and lay the groundwork for lasting success. By the six-month mark, shift your focus toward strategic alignment. Develop a clear understanding of Infoblox’s AI vision and roadmap and identify where your team can make the most impactful contributions. Start influencing technical direction and aligning priorities with organizational goals. This phase is about connecting the dots between your team’s capabilities and the company’s future, ensuring that every effort moves us closer to our AI-driven vision.  

One Year: After one year, you will be a cornerstone of technical leadership within the core AI team. Your role will expand to defining, designing, delivering, and maintaining innovative AI agentic products and features that set Infoblox apart. Beyond technical excellence, you’ll foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, empowering your team to push boundaries and deliver transformative solutions.
