What You’ll Be Doing


Clark Wilson LLP is seeking a Legal Assistant to support lawyers within our Estates, Trusts, and Tax practice group. This role is primarily focused on solicitor-based tax and estate planning matters, including corporate reorganizations, trust structuring, and succession planning.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing, formatting, and finalizing legal documents and correspondence related to estate planning, tax planning, trusts, and corporate reorganizations
  • Assisting with the implementation of estate freezes, corporate reorganizations, and post-mortem and succession planning strategies
  • Supporting the preparation and organization of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
  • Preparing corporate documentation, including resolutions, share transactions, and maintaining corporate and trust minute books (physical and electronic)
  • Assisting with corporate filings and maintaining corporate records through BC Online and other applicable registries
  • Coordinating document execution processes, including arranging client meetings and managing execution copies
  • Communicating professionally with clients, accountants, financial advisors, and other external stakeholders to facilitate transaction completion
  • Managing lawyers’ calendars, scheduling meetings, and maintaining bring-forward systems to track key dates and deliverables
  • Opening and closing files, organizing electronic and physical file systems, and ensuring documentation is complete and accurate
  • Preparing billing summaries, assisting with time entry, and supporting billing processes
  • Providing general administrative and legal support to ensure the efficient operation of the Estates, Trusts, and Tax practice group


How You’ll Be a Great Fit for This Role


The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant who enjoys supporting sophisticated tax, estates, and corporate matters and takes pride in contributing to high-quality legal work.

  • Graduate of a recognized Legal Administrative Assistant program or equivalent education and practical experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably supporting tax, estates and trusts, corporate, or business law practices
  • Experience supporting corporate reorganizations, estate planning, or tax planning matters is a strong asset
  • Familiarity with corporate minute books, corporate records, and related filings
  • Proficiency with legal and administrative technology, including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, BC Online, MYLTSA, ALF and document management systems such as iManage
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail, particularly when managing complex documentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and professional advisors
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment
  • A client-focused mindset, with a commitment to providing responsive, accurate, and professional service
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing positively within a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive client matters
